So we recently purchased this speaker and was planning to pair it with our previously owned Boom. Come to find out you can’t pair the two but they are literally made from the same people. Hell they even look very similar. It blows me away that you are not letting the boom and blast to pair and need to change this. Absolute waste of money.


Stopped working after the second day of purchase

I loved the megablast, until it stopped working after, I bought it I did get a new one when I returned it. I was very disappointed after paying 200$.

Only issue is that doesn’t have that feature to turn on or off the speaker from the app now I have to go turn off or on myself pushing the button bring back that feature.

The boom app is so easy to use. This app you can’t do anything besides adjust the equalizer. Please make this app where you can at least turn the speaker on and off through the app. And I just find out that you can’t link the Blast to the Boom? That may be a deal breaker as well. Unless these items get updated soon then I may have to return it.

I bought this speaker yesterday and have been very satisfied with the sound, price and size. However, I downloaded the app Ultimate Ears as advised and it’s not compatible with this particular speaker. I am also frustrated with the same song playing over and over unless I change the song on my iPhone (iTunes account). Is there a way to get it to automatically move onto the next sound without doing it manually? Please advise!

Where to begin...To start this is a packaged review. Megablast unit and the app. Picked this up at Best Buy. Retail 250 but for whatever reason the blue was priced at 180. Makes you sick to think about the margins at 250. But I still bought it anyway. Boy was that stupid. The setup should be painless as the YouTube videos clearly show... After about 5-10 attempts I was able to connect to WiFi. Bluetooth pairing somehow was just as challenging. For about an hour I would say this device actually didn’t make me want to drop kick it across the room. Sound was good and by some miraculous feat Alexa actually worked decently with Spotify. Trying to get this to work again after the initial run is impossible. I have deleted the app and reset the speaker somewhere in the double digit range and at this point this thing is worse than a paper weight. Im guessing if you are still reading this long winded review your probably in my same boat as me which is certainly sinking with this anchor of a useless speaker pulling me down into the depths of my frustration limits. If miraculously you haven’t made the purchase yet I would just save your money and wait for sonos to come out with a portable speaker...haha which is why I bought this in the first place. Sonos does make a quality catalog of products. Definitely wait. There’s to much opportunity for them not to enter the portable market


Comparing to the mega boom

Hey developers, I’m very surprised by the sound quality and eq for the mega blast. The shortcomings of this speaker are, for me only due to how great the mega boom was. I “upgraded” to this speaker because my mega boom was lost in a luggage debacle. I haven’t been able to use the WiFi options for this speaker yet mostly because I use this speaker everywhere except at home. It seems to keep shutting off on its own. Since you guys haven’t added the feature of being able to turn it on and off through the app, I have to go to where it’s located to turn it back on. Im really hoping you guys bring back that option. Also why can’t I open the app and check the battery percentage? Seems like that would be a no brainer. I will gladly write a new review when you guys bring this one up to speed! I realllly hope you guys do! I loved my mega boom so so so much and was heartbroken to lose it. Thanks!

For some reason each UE Product uses a completely different app. Which would be fine except each app varies in reliability and general quality. And I can say without a single doubt compared to the boom and megaboom the software is of poor quality. The Megablast won't play when connected to a macbook. Which is ridiculous. For a smartspeaker some very obvious use-cases were just ignored. Also the speaker will NOT work when using the voice memo app to playback a recording. The firmware on the speaker needs some updates that just haven't arrived because the speaker will suddenly disconnect from my phones Bluetooth during playback. For no reason. The speaker stays on. But I have to manually reconnect. The boom and megaboom never did this. Ever. For the boom and megaboom the battery percentage would be displayed in the ios battery widget. That's gone. Alexa is clunky, and barely works. Software updates are extremely slow for a premium product. Did I mention it disconnects randomly during playback. Customer support has NO idea what they're doing. No one seems able to actually talk to the development team and get actual answers regarding when fixes will come for this thing. If this software doesn't get fixed this is going back to best buy and I'll get another brand. And for the third time while on the charging dock the speaker came on by itself without any physical interaction or utilization of the UE app. This thing is buggy.

The speaker is great but why did I buy a mega last speaker with amazon Alexa if I can’t get my speaker to connect to WiFi ??? I would like to take advantage of its features at its full potential but I have not been able to do this since I bought it 2 and a half weeks ago and now I can’t return it because it has been over 14 days. I’d would appreciate it if someone can reach out to me.
