Does Bluetooth Have to be on?

Don’t even think about opening the app without Bluetooth on! It will not let you operate the speaker if it is not connected to the phone. The Spotify update to stream music through WiFi is a welcome addition! A little more versatility in playlist selection would be appreciated as I seem to be unable to ask Alexa to do anything with Spotify... Overall, an okay app.

I had the megablast 5 months , was able to listen to it total of MAYBE 35 minutes . It will not connect to WiFi at all anymore . For about a month it would randomly just turn on would here myself texting ( the clicks from keybadboard) or just turn on and off at full volume . Would wake me out of dead sleep scare heck out of me . Now it has been on the charging dock for 2 months white part lights up for a period of time then lite on base goes away only comes back if u lift speaker up put back then spin side to side a little . But I am not able to even turn on the speaker itself to even attempt to hook it to WiFi now . Fed up . Really loved it the 35 min I got to listen to it. Have seen many complaints about app but Nothing done to fix it . Should I just throw this thing in trash ? Wasn’t even able to hook up the Alexa it was on for such short period of time Any suggestions people ?????

It seems that this app does not allow you to utilize the Bluetooth features within the app if the WiFi fails to connect, or f/w update fails work. This seems like a major design flaw.

I recently purchased the Megablast and have had nothing but great experiences so far. The app found the speaker immediately and guided me through the setup process. I was connected to WiFi and playing music in no time at all. Everything just worked. One thing I made sure to do was get the latest version of the app AND - this is important - update the speaker’s firmware immediately. Getting the entire system on the latest versions of both platforms usually makes a difference, especially since they’ve released updates after Megablast & Blast went on sale last year. (Pro tip: they release updates for a reason) Would I like to be able to power the speaker on/off thru the app? Or connect 2 Blasts together? Of course. Did the UE team say in other reviews these features are coming? Yes, so I’ll wait patiently. Overall, great experience and the sound is incredible! I love not having my Alexa-enabled speaker chained to one room - it goes wherever I go. Nice work UE team!

Really wanted to love this as much as my Boom, but this app is a joke. There is no remote on/off like the Boom app which blows my mind. I can’t get the Blast to connect to the app because it just keeps saying “speaker not found.” I contacted support and was told to reset the speaker but that hasn’t fixed the problem. Finally decided today that I’m going to return it.

I recently bout a MegaBlast and a Blast, the sales representative showed me on a demo how he connected 3 of them and told me how you could connect even more. Turns out those were the older models and not the 2 I got. I went to try to return them to get the ones he showed but they did not take the back. I’m stuck with 2 speakers that I cannot use how I was told. UE - you need educated people selling your product, it’s your reputation! Based on prior reviews it seems that there has been a software coming for months to bring back some cool features from the older models.... hmmmmmm are they really coming? I saw one response from December..... it’s almost June. As far as the apps, i think that for the consumer it is quite confusing when you have like 5 apps... why don’t you just develop one that handles all?

They advertise that it now supports Spotify, but the app refuses to update my Megablast speaker past firmware 1.3.106 and the support team can’t help. I’ve deleted the speaker, used different phones, etc. and nothing works.

Recently I purchase new iPad and new speaker and it doesn’t want to connect to WIFI. Can’t use Alexa since the app can’t recognize a WiFi connection

Update : still not working I don’t get it it’s the app for sure it won’t got past the connect to WiFi screen stays loading for minutes. I have an updated iPhone X and the updated app so I’m not sure how this could be messed up It stays loading on the connect to Wi-Fi screen called customer service and they said they have to send it up to a higher position they told me they would email me and I haven’t received an email it’s been five days now.
