Stay away from these

Thizzlewizle

I spent a lot of money on these lights. Between the candy canes ,the icicles, the C7,C9, the tech tree. As the other user said mine worked out of the box. I have no more then 5 per power outlet and all on GFCI's. well I would say at least 20 boxes of lights not including the other accessories they sell, and I have returned 8 boxes and replaced them with a new set over the last couple weeks. After speaking with someone from customer service they said it was just a bad batch with wiring issues so I said no problem. I'll give it another shot. Yet again another string stopped working to were only half of it lights up and the other half is either off or completely different color and out of sync. Terrible thing is not o my the money I spent on these but the time to put them all up as well. I had people stopping at the house to watch the lights but now I don't turn them on and xmas is a few weeks away. So I do not recommend these as I will now be returning all the boxes back to Home Depot and talking with the maker off applights again smh. My kid loved to watch these when they would actually work.

Great when using 8 or less sets

Last weekend I bought a variety of APPLights totaling 6 sets and they were awesome! The kids loved them and we played with the different color options and effects. Last night I bought 6 more sets so I could finish out my roof line and add more pathway lights plus the tree from APPLights and now I can't control any of the lights. Customer support said I would need 2 devices to control my 12 sets as you limited to only 8 per device running the app??? It's 2016 and 8 sets of lights is the magic number? I saw the Home Depot add for the Great Light Fight on ABC and it shows Santa giving a demo from his phone and there are clearly more than 8 sets on that house. More like 25+ if not more and it showed him changing the settings on the fly. Please update this app to be equally superior to the light set hardware which seems very well made.

Terrible terrible terrible

Arguably one of the worst products I've bought. Bluetooth range is a joke, the application is terrible, somehow they managed to turn a very simple concept into the most unnecessarily complicated workflow I've used in years. This product is terrible. I am returning it after I press "send".

Need to upgrade the App

I really like the lights, however I bought 8 strands and the app is having issues controlling all at once. The strands show up and then disappear. I found that I could plug in half and set up then unplug and plug in the other half and set up. Then plug them all in and they stayed on the setting I wanted. But for the price, they should work as intended. I would have definitely returned if they weren't already on my house.

You Must Swipe The Screen For App To Work!

DHerbSanDiego

We bought 2 of these AppLights and I could not get the app to work. You MUST swipe the phone screen from right to left to make it work! It's like turning a page in a book. They should tell you this in the instruction manual! The app is a tutorial once you start turning the pages. Cheers!

Wish for customization

sweet_amabilis

I wish I could customize colors (such as for a sports team or birthday party) but otherwise the lights have worked perfectly so far.

Poor range.

The app doesn't work as intended all the time for 5 strings at one time. There is no rhyme or reason. One day is one string that doesn't change, the next day is the other. Hence on/off button works for only those that are recognized by the Bluetooth. Great combinations of colors when they do manage to work.

Only worked 1 year-no support

inevitability

Purchased 8 strings last year and everything worked (but 2 color patterns use groups of 4 bulbs-not useful). This year only 3 of the 8 strings still work. Emailed customer service an no answer. Steer clear.

High tech Crap

$60.00 for a 20 ft string, would be nice if the software worked. It refuses to move past telling me to turn on Bluetooth, when it is already activated. Don't waste your hard earned money on this junk.

Work well so far

MaineDezign

My experience with these lights has been good so far. Mine is only one string and being used indoors. I have had only one issue with the ap and string losing communication, but followed instructions to reset and it came back and no problems since. Some suggestions. Like others have said, customization of the ap. Nice presets but give the option to choose colors. Definitely should have a timer built in. Although you can plug it in to a timer, this feature really should have been included from the start. Wish there was an option for smaller string or smaller lights to go in compact indoor windows. The current strand is too long. Maybe 10 icicles instead of 24 (which is outdoor of course). Wonderful concept overall. We are in on the ground floor with this one. Keep improving please!!! Lots of opportunity here! :) (but shoot for customization of colors first please!!!)
