Terrifying garage experience

I have been using Zipcars with great success over the years and what happened today was terrifying. Zipcar added a new garage to my neighborhood and I used it for the first time. At the end of my timeshare, I got out of the car and locked the door. The attendant came up to me and told me to unlock the door. When I explained to him that he needed to use his card to unlock the door, he got angry and I thought he was going to become physically abusive si I ran into the street to where there were other people. He called the police (as did my daughter) and I called Zipcar. When the police arrived I had a Zipcar representative explain the procedure and they let me go. I must say that garage attendant is not a safe person and should not be allowed to interact with Zipcar customers. It was frightening.

If you have your license but either can’t afford a car or live in congested city where having a car is almost redundant like New York, then Zipcar is THE service for you. Affordable rates, awesome cars, great service all around!

Zero stars if that were an option. App doesn’t work. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and nothing. I opened this account recently and haven’t been able to use it once because of this issue. Please fix soon or I’ll be canceling and expecting a refund on my application fee.


They will ruin your plans

After paying for membership + a monthly insurance rate, I booked a car for $260~ to take me to a planned weekend getaway. I packed my bags, took a cab to the garage and looked for the car I booked. It wasn’t there. After 30. Minutes. Waiting. Just for customer service to call me back, they informed me that the car was “somewhere in New York” (???????) and that they would cancel my reservation and give me a $50 credit for my trouble. $50 does not cover the money I invested on my weekend plans, the time I spent coordinating it, the packing of bags, the taxi to parking lot. I thought I was paying a subscription to a service that would be reliable. There was another car peles on the garage I was in, and I asked to be switched to it as my scar was not there. They told me it was not their policy. So I guess that sums it up- it’s not in their policy to give you what you pod for, it’s just their policy to be disrespectful and do whatever they want. Never again.

Mobile app is frozen

I have updated my profile and deleted and downloaded this app multiple times on my iPhone10s multiple times but unable to use the app. Just plainly disgusting user experience. The app screen is frozen. Have been successfully using zipcar mobile app until July 2019. I have re-registered my mobile phone, but this app is not working for me on latest iOS software on my iPhone 10s

Don’t plan your day ahead trusting Zipcar

I booked a car a week ahead planning a trip to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, however when I went to pick it up the car wasn’t there. After half an hour over the phone with a Zipcar assistant they told me they couldn’t give me any solution. Such a disappointment. Very poor service.
