BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY TELL YOU LIES!!!

I signed up for Zipcar under the university plan almost over 2 MONTHS AGO because my college is partnered with them. While I was applying on the application, I tried submitting it and for some reason they wouldn’t accept the submission so I exited out. The next day, I got an e-mail saying I can’t be a member of Zipcar because they did not approve my application!! EVEN THOUGH I DID NOT SUBMIT IT AND MY CARD WAS NOT CHARGED FOR THE APPLICATION FEE. I don’t know what reasons I could not get approved because I’m 21, I have a drivers license AND I have a clean driving record. I called customer service MANY MANY MANY times to see why and they did NOTHING to help. All they kept telling me was to wait for an “e-mail” from their higher department. I still have not gotten an email up to this day (and it’s been almost 3 months). Their customer service is bad. Why have people work as your customer service team when they can’t do anything to satisfy their customers?! What is the point of even having your customer service people?! Zipcar really needs to work on this and needs to get workers with higher quality better experience.

I am a 23 year old male, I took my road test and passed on the first try! As you can guess, I was really excited to drive but I didn’t have a car. I looked all over and long story short, zip car is the BEST rental company for a young driver and it is soooo easy to use! Not oneeee complaint (actually just one... the gas card didn’t work in one of the cars. But when I paid, I just called zip car and they took care of the whole bill by giving me the money in driving credit!) I really do love zipcar!


WATCHOUT! Be careful when parking your Zipcar

My experience with Zipcar has been pretty good until last week when a SUV parked unlawfully in a designated Zipcar parking spot. The whole lot was full so there was nowhere to park the Zipcar I was about to return. I called Zipcar but no one answers the phone. I had no choice but to park my car as close to the designated parking spot as possible. I did block the SUV parking unlawfully, but what-else could I do? A few days later, Zipcar informed me the car I rent that night has been towed and I should pay for the towing fee or they will suspend my account. I found that to be ridiculous since it was the SUV that unlawfully parked. The representative even said that I have to find someone else to park, even though that might be a mile away! Seriously! Why should I pay for someone else’s unlawful behavior! Zipcar should really change their policy and put more people to answer phone calls!

i have been a member of zipcar since 2009. that is 4 years before avis took it over in 2013. it was a wonderful company before avis acquired it. then, for many years it was a so-so company that still provided passable service. but in the last year it has gone downhill quickly. one of the main problems is the new website. the old website had a way to see how much each reservation cost—the hourly rate + surcharges + tolls. the tolls were sometimes billed a month later, but it was still possible to attach them to the reservation they corresponded with to get the bottom line for that reservation. it is no longer possible to see that. this makes it hard for those of us who are submitting receipts and need documentation. another problem is that more often than before, zipcar changes the car i reserved, sometimes just hours before the reservation, substituting a car of a different make that i am not comfortable driving. little things are often wrong with the cars, such as no fluid in the windshield washer reservoir, or no blade in the rear windshield wiper. customer service is staffed with polite people who say, “i do apologize for that,” but who have no power to do anything about most problems. all they can do is refer it to some faceless person the customer has no way of contacting, and perhaps in a few days, you will get an email response that does not really address your problem and that you cannot reply to. this is a critique of zipcar as a company, not the zipcar app. i would have liked to give this feedback directly to someone at zipcar who could address my comments, but as that is impossible, the only way i have to be heard is this app review. an unhappy customer

Great service to use just clean the cars more often

Great service to have but the cars need to be maintained inside more because every time I get into a car it smells like smoke and I’ve been In 6 different ones. One made my hands wreak of smoke for a full day afterwards and they refused compensate me for that unfortunately but my biggest thing is they cars need to be clean more frequently to avoid this happening.
