I give up

The Steph'

I have been using Wemo bulbs for several years. The first few months were catastrophic. It took more than a year to fix bugs and issues that made the whole experience a disaster. It got better (not great), and I went along, accustomed to it for a while. Then came the new version with the requirement to create an online account. And there it went down the drain. I have to login with email and password almost twice a week... needless to say it is irritating, infuriating at times, when all you wanna do is turn on the freakin' lights. Anyway, there's plenty of other issues, the app is nothing to be excited about, and when compared to the experience I get from so many other connected devices (including other light systems), I simply am done with this product. Throwing the bulbs away, erasing the app, and be done with Wemo.

App Notifications Stopped Working

The app works for the most part, but several versions ago I stopped receiving notifications via the app when events occur. I have a Wemo Maker with the sensor setup. The sensor shows triggered and not triggered when I go into the app. I created a rule to send a notification when the sensor is triggered and not triggered. I no longer receive these notifications. I’ve tried reinstalling the app without any success. Please bring back the notifications. Thanks

Not great

Be prepared to reconnect your devices a lot. The app is clunky and unreliable, but helpful when everything works.

Poor implementation

Been using Wemo switches for several years. Version 1 switches worked great for a long time. So happy I bought four more switches. These were version two, although I didn’t know this at the time. Now, horrible set up that takes many resets before it finds the switch. After a while it says first one then another switch not detected, one right next to the router! Can’t ever seem to have more than four active switches. To top it all, the app constantly forgets me and I have to log in again every few days. Still, they work on the schedules once set up. Just fed up of trying to turn them on or off with the app because it’s so frustrating. And yes, app and firmware are up to date.

Hey!!!

Kasa is 10x better, they don’t even make you log back in every other week! Also, they have a timer feature, for the same price! Wow!!!

App is terrible

Bought bunch of the wifi outlets. App does not keep each plug info. Drops the plugs randomly and I am constantly ha ing to delink them. Some days they are there. Other days not. It’s not an issue with my wifi as I have NO issues with any other brand wifi connections. Decided to go with tp-link kasa wifi outlets and no issues with those.

No longer usable!

Won’t let me use the app anymore because I have an account. Why do I need an account. I could use it before. Worst devices! Not even compatible with Harmony remotes.

Nothing works. And that’s a big deal

I have a lot of Wemo switches. Including several built into my wall that took a while to install and were like 30-50$ a pop. Since installing the “more secure” update that now requires a password and yet another login credential to remember- nothing works. Not in the app on my phone. It locks up and dies every time. My wife can’t logon on her phone. I had it integrated into home assistant. Which no longer works either. Companies need to realize I do not want to be tied to their system. I got the Wemo because it was open, controlled locally and able to be integrated. Please fix ... something. I don’t even know what.

Used to work, now it doesn’t

I’ve had Wemo switches and plugs for 3 years and they mostly worked well and app was great. In 2020 devices started dropping constantly and it would take hours to get them to reconnect and some I just can’t get at all. Now the app also logs me out all the time and it doesn’t save your password or email so just to turn on/off a light I have to type in my whole email and pw...I’ll save myself some time and just physically turn the lights on and off.
