I download a lot of files, and received a threatening letter from my ISP on behalf of some Hollywood production company. For that reason, and due to other privacy concerns, I subscribed to ExpressVPN. It has been everything I expected, and more. I like that it stops all web traffic if it disconnects, which doesn't happen much. I also feel much safer using public Wi-Fi with this. Highly recommended.

...has the Great Firewall finally start causing problems? It’s been near impossible to connect today. I’ve been a subscriber for nearly a year and have *never* had the slightest problem. I plan on re-upping in December, but I need some assurance that this is a *temporary* problem. It’s been on all iOS devices and PC. Thanks. **Update 10/16/17 Been in and out all weekend. Can’t connect at all now. **10/27/17 Started working okay (but only on 3 servers) over the past few days, but is out again today. Clock is ticking on whether or not I re-up my subscription for another year, Express VPN. Are these connectivity issues temporary or not?

I think ExpressVPN is very good. However I hope this update fixes the problems that Microsoft's recent Windows 10 upgrade (Fall Creator) has created on my computer. It made your app very unstable. It kept going on and off on and off on and off so I contacted ExpressVPN. Their support made the problem worse because at the end of three wasted hours trying to fix the problem, I had no app on the computer. After four days, the phone company's technician said it was not the Internet but the VPN that was causing all the problems. I thank ExpressVPN because when I tried to reinstall the app, after four days, I had a very easy install and everything's been working fine since.

Update: It’s been a little slower and I’ve had more trouble connecting lately, though it’s still pretty good, at least compared to the awful other options out there! I suspect iOS is largely to blame for the overall poor quality of these VPN apps. Among imperfect choices, this is a solid app. — Earlier review: Generally a fantastic app, particularly (but not only) for those who want a reasonably priced VPN with a solid companion app for a desktop macOS computer too. Lots of location options, and it generally connects very quickly. Occasionally it gets stuck or frozen, unfortunately, but this has happened to me with all other VPN apps that I've tried too. I usually don't notice any slowdown at all in accessing web pages, which is rare for a VPN app, since they all have at least some effect on speed. Other VPN apps seem slower. The support team is very responsive and helpful too. One thing that drives me nuts despite my general good feelings about the app: On rare occasion, if I'm using the app with a wifi network and then leave the wifi area such that my phone relies on a cellular signal to access the web, the app has the effect of blocking internet access altogether. That is, my phone won't connect to any website if I'm using this app and relying on a cell signal for web access. This doesn't usually happen - it's rare -- I can almost always access the web via cell signal even with this app turned on. But it's very annoying that it can sometimes, even if rarely, block internet access.Of course, at those time, I can just turn off the VPN and web access is restored immediately. But for some people, I imagine, perfectly consistent access will be essential. (I don't recall if the other. VPN apps I've used had this issue; it might not be specific to ExpressVPN.) The only other problem -- also rare but annoying: there will be an update available on the App Store but it will fail to download. If I click on "Update," my phone or iPad will try to update it but won't, and eventually I'll get error messages. Then at some point later it updates successfully. Only happens to me with this app (and I have many, many apps and do frequent updates of them without any problem).

Express has great customer, but with the Chinese government doing more and more to prevent VPN usage, my computer has been taking longer and longer to connect and my phone won’t connect at all most of the time. I’ve updated, I reinstall the configurations, I use only the three locations that are available for people in China right now. I would give it five stars if it worked better, but I’m nervous about the fact that it’s already slowing down in October. Come February when VPNs are supposedly going to be banned outright in China, it makes me wonder if Express will be able to keep up their service at all. I hope I didn’t pay for a year of service that won’t work for half of it.
