Voice in a Can

Alexa on your Apple Watch (standalone, no phone required), your iPhone and iPad.
Category Price Seller Device
Utilities $1.99 Atadore SARL iPhone, iPad, iPod

Control your home devices, ask general questions, add items to your shopping list and set timers etc. It is an Alexa implementation. On your wrist.

Here are three things you should know before getting this app:
1. Not all audio content can be supported. Amazon don't allow third-party apps such as this app to play music, audio books or some daily-news content.
2. You can use a Siri Shortcut to launch the app and start speaking, just by raising your wrist on Apple Watch. See the support page on how to configure.
3. The phone controls installation of the app to the watch, not the app. Put your watch on a charger to speed up install time.

If you have questions or any support issues please email me ([email protected]) ... I'm an independent sole-developer doing this as a side-project.

Please do reach out, I want to help.

Voice in a Can is in no way associated with Amazon.

Very slow

I have an Apple Watch series 3 and voice in a can is extremely slow. After I ask a question it takes around 20 seconds to reply something back. Also half the time it doesn’t understand what I say.

Not ready for prime time

Only works about 1/3 of the time, even then it’s very slow. Disappointed. Going to uninstall. Don’t waste the $2, it’s not worth it.

Great App

App was very easy to install and worked immediately. It has been 100% reliable. If you have an Apple Watch and a few Amazon devices this app will hook them up and increase the fun and utility of both. Also the author seems extremely responsible and responsive to his customers.

Disappointed! It does not worked on Apple Watch 6

This app stopped working on my Apple Watch 6, which was the main reason I purchased few weeks ago. It looks to me this app needs a major Update under IOS.!! All I getting on my apple watch is to register with Amazon/us/code I did it and the same message is coming back. I’m on a loop...

Great option

I’ve integrated Alexa for a range of functions at my home, and wanted an option to use my watch for control. This app delivers quite well. For me, four stars means the best option I’ve identified but desire improvements. Most notably this app has a slight delay while it starts and authenticates, it’s not a big problem but it’s noticeable. More noticeably it needs refinement in detecting when you are done issuing a command. Even the slightest wind noise can throw it off making it hard to use outside. Still this is a great app and 100% worth it if you use Alexa

Alexa for apple watch

I have house automated with Alexa and was looking for Alexa for watch. Especially to open garage door. This app works great. Easy setup and auto load on watch. I have as watch complication for one touch launch. Works in house to do I don’t have to shout out “Alexa”, .... just push complication button on watch face and say command. Works perfectly so far. Even to launch Alexa linked music.

Great solution to an annoying problem

I have all the lights in my house hooked up to Alexa and I was hoping to use my Apple Watch to control them (for when I’m not near an Echo or my phone) and this app makes that possible! That’s pretty much all I use it for so I have no complaints on functionality. The only reason I docked a star is that maybe once or twice a week I have to go through the whole authorization process again, which is a pain: sign in to Amazon and enter the little code, etc. before it’s usable once more.

Even better!
applebit924

I thought her wrote a review about a year ago on this with a good level of satisfaction. Well this new version came out and is a vast improvement on performance and the one and only issue of in frequent log outs has been resolved. I use this quite often to open my garage door and need quick access so having these two improvements is awesome! Having Alexa on your Apple Watch work so incredibly well is also extremely handy for our house. Alexa is tied into so much as we are a technology driven house. Also Alexa has certain functionality that Siri does not and this app it’s the target to ensure that all functions that are possible work well on the phone and on the Apple Watch.

Fantastic!

We’ll, if wishes for an app to control all my Smarthome devices from my Apple Watch were to come true… this would be it! I control all my devices through my Amazon Echo units around my house, and I knew that Amazon wouldn’t produce or make available an app for the Apple Watch to control those devices. And now a bright developer has created Voice In A Can (great name btw). And not only does it work like I envisioned an app, but it’s always with me on my Watch within immediate access. And he even created a Complication so I can have it right on my Watch Face! In Ver. 2.0 I encountered a problem which forced me to re-authorize the app with Amazon. I wrote the developer and was pleasantly surprised that he got back to me the same day. He cleaned up the app so that pesky problem wouldn’t occur again and released it immediately. Apple posted the update within a couple of days and now the app works perfectly. My next wish is for Amazon to allow music and podcasts to be accessed through Voice In A Can (like that might ever happen). All I can say is that If you have an Apple Watch and would like to control all you Smart Devices by just talking to your watch without having to go to your phone or Echo and say “Alexa turn on….” (you don’t even have to use a ‘wake up word’ like “Alexa…”) then download this app immediately!

Great app and great developer!

This is an extremely useful app and what makes it even better is the developer and user support. Apple doesn’t always make it easy to interface with other other systems (especially competitors like Amazon), but Voice In A Can is constantly working to stay current and provides direct support as new software updates come out. I strongly recommend this app!
