works every time. A lot of useful preference options to customize the way it locks, unlocks and enters the users password when prompted to make an administrative change like installing apps, etc.

This app no longer communicates with Mac Mini. Don’t have any idea why but maybe it is broken on Apple Silicon (my Mac Mini is a M1). Really liked this app but it is now useless!
Like adding TouchID to your iMac
Hmmm yes
I got a new MacBook Pro and have an iPhone both with TouchID, but my old iMac still requires a password. Add this to your iMac and iPhone and you can use TouchID to open your iMac and to approve actions like file moves. Doesn’t seem to do purchases (but maybe I have it set up wrong).
Should be more automatic. Too much clicking and swiping around. Might as well just use a password!

Instructions for installing are terribly confusing and all documentation leads me to an endless loop of being prompted to download the app which I have already done.

I like it in principle and I wish I could get it up and running. I followed the instructions on the website. No help. The author doesn’t provide a contact. I prefer not to make requests and receive advice over Twitter @unloxhelp
A must-have for Power Users

I’ve used this app since before Apple forced the developer to change the name from MacID to its current Unlox (a good substitute, but it’s too bad Apple was so protective of the “Mac” name). Once you pair Unlox with your Mac(s)—which sometimes is a challenge because of Bluetooth’s vagaries—Unlox works like a charm to unlock one or more Macs with Face ID oe Touch ID. Even better, Unlox pops up whenever your Mac needs Admin authorization, which for most Power Users is multiple times in a day. Since I have a secure password that 15 characters long…with capital and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters which is a pain to type, the amount of time Unlox saves me every day is significant! With the additional features of clipboard sharing (which works reliably, unlike the Apple ecosystem’s Handoff), and being able to control my Mac’s audio with my iPhone or watch when I’m in another room, Unlox is worth far more than the pittance the developer asks for it. Do yourself a favor… just buy it! ? you won’t be disappointed.
