You can do better, UE!

Ericpain

I’ve been using a Megaboom speaker for 4 years now and I love it! So much so that I have purchased several over the years. I had the previous version of the app and it worked...well enough anyway; some features were unnecessarily buried within Settings and the PartyUp feature was wonky but all in all, a good solid 4 star app. I gave a new speaker to a relative and was helping her get set up and saw the old Megaboom app was gone, and this was here to take its place. Since the old app kept throwing a pop up saying that UE is working on something new and cool, I thought this may be it! I downloaded it to test it out before foisting it on someone else. My first thought was that THIS was, in fact, the cool new thing we were told about; new look, the EQ and other features were front and center, no longer buried! New look and feel...I was able to connect everything, use PartyUp...I thought the app had earned the fifth star, but then I discovered something that turned a 5 into a 2! In the previous app, the Remote Power On feature was able to be toggled on and off in settings. It’s a handy feature that will allow the user to power the speaker(s) on and off from their device. It’s a cool thing for some, I never used it. NOW it is defaulted to always on and can’t be turned off. This is a battery drainer since the speaker now has to stay partially awake to await the command. I love that I can run these speakers literally for weeks without having to charge. Plus, I really don’t use the app for much, but since it’s there, the process drains the battery for no real good reason. UE, PLEASE do the right thing by giving users back the ability to activate this feature if they want it or deactivate if they don’t. I want to really like this app and would like to use it more, but this function is a big sticking point for myself and others based on the reviews I’m reading. Please fix this!

Does Not Ever Connect

studiousjanet

The speaker works fine. This app is horrid. It worked briefly once. Since then I have downloaded and deleted three times. It keeps telling me to connect to the speaker. Both my iPad and the speaker show connection and function as connected. Only the app DOES NOT WORK.

App not working

App no longer connects. Worthless until fixed

Great except when it’s not

Me1117

It works great for the most part. Until you try to update the firmware or change anything at all. Then it’s a disaster. The app will turn the speaker on remotely then tell you to add the speaking by going to the Bluetooth settings. It ends up being a round robin of garbage. Resetting, factory resetting, deleting/reinstalling the app, and so on doesn’t fix it. It’s happened every time I’ve updated. I can’t even solve it this time around. Bad.

It’s alright... when it works

beury11

This app only works when it’s juuust right. I’ve had both my Megabooms connected for years and then, boom! Disconnected. It’s taken me hours and I’m still trying to figure it out. 5 stars for when it works, and 0 stars for every other time.

Cannot party up speakers

Munro_88

I cannot party up my 5 megabooms with this app. I hope they fix this ASAP. It is very annoying

Alarm doesn’t work consistently

Thiccalibur

The app is a nice app; it lets you turn on the speaker with your phone, has an EQ, and has many other things to fully unlock the boom/megaboom’s potential. One feature that was particularly useful was the alarm. It lets me choose music from Spotify which is really nice, and it’s much more loud than the phone speaker so I’m a lot more likely to wake up when the alarm rings instead of sleeping through it. However, the alarm feature is sometimes inconsistent. For example, whenever I set my alarm for the next day, it’ll sometimes mute the alarm even after I set it to full volume, which is extremely inconvenient since it doesn’t function as an alarm anymore. Also, whenever I set my alarm to a particular time, it sometimes changes the time right after I finished setting it up. For example, when I set my alarm to 6 am, it changed the time to 7:44 am even though I didn’t set it to that time. This might be due to some bugs in the app so hopefully a simple software update will fix it. Overall, it’s a nice app, but it has some bugs in it.

Nothing works anymore
