I can’t even scroll through anymore without it glitching out or throwing an ad up that gets stuck trying to load

Once upon a time this was the greatest app in the world. However, over time this app has continued to fail us. It has begun to constantly freeze up and fails to load on a regular basis. Galleries are still great if they will load and you can get past their own advertisements. I once checked the app multiple times a day, now it’s just every once in a while. #sadchiver

I’ve enjoyed everything about The Chive, and the amazing things the charity side does for so many outstanding people. But apparently the fact that we buy $30 shirts, blow the roof off of fundraising goals consistently 1 small donation at a time, and log onto their app regularly isn’t enough. Instead of a thank you we get bombarded with ads, galleries that lock up, a 25% increase on purchases to get free shipping, and a monthly fee to enjoy the app we used to enjoy opening?!? What once was an amazing group of misfits set on making this world a better place one small donation at a time has fallen to the almighty dollar. Maybe it’s the payments on the $4 million headquarters that got another $3 million in renovations that made them do it. I loved being part of a unique community, and now I feel like a commodity, and after scrolling the reviews I can see I’m not the only one feeling this way... I’d give a zero star if I could. #MistakesWereMade ✌?

I loved the chive so much but every time I use it my battery goes from 99 to off in no time and I even had trouble recharging it. I deleted the app and my battery is back to normal. Not to mention all the ads and constant crashing of the app. Just plum awful. Don’t download this horrific thing!!!

No longer the best app ever

User experience goes from 100% down to about 10% because of ads. Whether it’s in the app, or catching it in a browser window, the constant re-direct of ad interruption is similar to being hit with spam and viruses that you can’t stop. Now you have to pay monthly for an ad-free experience ??!! Guys, you’re great, but you’re head is getting a bit big for your own good and you’re driving away your followers.

This was my favorite app of all time, until the curse of the ads. Every 5 photos I swipe all of the sudden a video pops up and starts screaming at me. Haven’t enjoyed using this app in weeks now ?

Locks up/freezes

Not sure why but I can’t get through any albums fully without it locking up and I have to shut down the app. I don’t pay for the app, but that shouldn’t freeze it on me. I’ve been apart of this organization for 5 years, and love everything it stands for. I am rating the performance of the app, not the company or the community.

I DON’t CARE ABOUT WILLEM DAFOE!!!!!! Why in the name of god would I want to hear a blasting Ad before I go to sleep; especially one with people figuring out how to say ‘Willem Dafoe.’ I can deal with the ad placements, but the random ad videos need to stop. I’m going to take my decal off the car, because this isn’t right and I loved what the Chive once stood for.
