Top notch content

CalifDude

I love the New York Times. Such great, quality journalism. The way information is presented is innovative as well, with some sleek interactive features. The app works well for me... no bugs. And I appreciate the new features, like 3D Touch with the notifications. A long time coming, but at least it’s here! Overall, great app.

Fake news

Very biased and one sided

Photos not displayed with text

197MeVF

Some articles only show the first photo and gray boxes for all subsequent photos. However the photos display fine in full screen when I click on them individually, so it is not a downloading issue. The ability to display a story's photos along with its text seems a low bar. What are the app devs spending their time on instead? Another puzzling feature is that stories marked with an arrow (upwards to the left) open in an embedded browser that requires me to login again.

Awful!

kpdelmar

I am a 20+ year subscriber to the paper NYT and a 5 year iPad subscriber. The previous iPad app was very good. This one is awful. Really. It is more about pictures and video than reading, and does not even identify the authors of Opinion pieces in the headers of their articles. This is like marketing a movie without listing the actors who are in it. Do you think we do not care who writes an Opinion piece? Please get an adult or two in the room when you build the next version of this app. Meanwhile, if this is not fixed soon I will cancel my subscription and move my support to the Washington Post, New Yorker, The Atlantic and other media that understand the meaning of print journalism.

Waste of screen space

Maxxiaodongyan

The one-column page layout is a huge waste of screen space on ipad. I guess that nytimes wants to realize unified development between ipad and iphone apps. But the ipad screen is so different from iphone. The narrow one-column text on ipad screen only occupies around 1/3 of the page, which forces users to scroll constantly. I miss the pre-historical nytimes ipad app a lot. It used to provide page-by-page navigation and reading it is very convenient, without the need for constant scrolling. The development team choose to ignore feedbacks from users. Sad!

Moronic Design Flaw In the Latest Version

SteveMetz

When you do share/copy it now copies the article title instead of the link like every similar app and previous versions of this one do. This greatly degrades the usefulness of the app and is leading me to consider canceling my subscription and rely on newspapers with competently designed apps like the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal.

Numerous complaints, never able to access

So frustrating!

Fix the newest update, please

L-J-L-J

I HATE the current app! There’s hardly any content anymore. Too much space is wasted on what is “trending”. Look, I read the Times for the news, not to find out what other people are reading. I can find that out through Facebook or Slate. The Times should be “All the News that’s Fit to Print”. Remember that? Also the search function absolutely stinks! Truth be told, you’ve ruined this app.

Not enjoying the advertisements on my paid subscription

There should be an option for New York Times subscribers to disable advertising.

Totally bait-y. Easy to subscribe but have to call to cancel.
