The app your lucky to get to connect half the time. The camera’s continuously go offline. My Router isn’t even 40 feet from both Camera’s. Furthest Camera show’s 75% wifi strength so it’s not the wifi. Now the app won’t even load at all!

Horrible app. Just bought a set of 4 cameras. Open the box to install and got the message saying that the cameras are obsolete from The app. If you’re planning to throw away the cameras in a year or two, buy Swann


Terrible app even worst support

Down to one camera out of two we purchased. One completely stopped charging just after the year warranty. We had the other replaced because it was the first one to give us problems still within warranty and had it replaced, well now it doesn’t connect to the app with the latest app update about a month ago. They ha be terrible customer support and so many have the same issue. I have a camera that clearly detects movement but I cannot successfully connect to my app again. It fails to verify connection, despite it being connected to my wifi. This is just ridiculous! Do not buy a Swann product!

Update 1/24/21 After a few days of my cameras going offline/online/offline repeatedly over and over since the last app update I finally completely lost connection to one of my SPOTCAM cameras today. I reset the camera and then paired it again and it worked for about 30 seconds before it went offline again. All of my cameras are connected via ethernet and all of them have been doing the offline/online thing since the app update. In addition to the 6 (now 5) Swann cameras that we have, we also have 3 other cameras from a different manufacturer. Those other 3 cameras have never had any connection issues and are still working fine today. I am hoping the next Swann update will bring my SPOTCAM back to life, but I am not going to hold my breath. At this point, I think I am probably going to be buying a 4th camera from the other manufacturer to replace the SPOTCAM. I have lost all confidence in Swann. Update 1/19/21 I finally downloaded the 1.19.57 build 1 update today after putting it off for as long as I felt I could. As I feared, the update has made my system worse again. Now, I have to repeatedly open and close the app over and over several times to get the app to actually function. It isn’t completely worthless yet, but it is getting closer. I will give it a couple weeks to see if they put out another update before I contact Swann Support again. I will reiterate again that I would not recommend this app to anyone. The cameras are solid, and the tech support people have always been able to fix my issues after every software update. But, the stress over worrying about whether the app will actually be working when/if I need it just kills any peace of mind that a camera system should provide. And I have no idea if the modes function even works. I am afraid to even attempt to use the modes settings after my experience with the Safe By Swann modes function that pretty much rendered all my cameras useless until the tech support people were finally able to fix it. ——————————————— I downloaded the latest update (1.19.40 build 1) and there are problems again. This update completely killed one of my cameras. Previous updates have rendered all of my cameras useless more than once, so I suppose the fact that this update only screwed up one camera is sort of impressive compared to most of the previous app updates. So far, the tech support people have always been able to get my system working again after each app update, but I am starting to lose patience with the company. And here we are again with another update that has messed up a six camera system that had been working well since tech support fixed it after the last update. At this point I can honestly say that I wouldn’t recommend Swann to anyone. The Swann cameras are solid and seem to be decent quality and fairly durable. The tech support people have always been polite to me and so far have been able to fix the damage from every app update. But, the app software is the weakest link. The app is always glitchy, even when it is working. And I absolutely cringe every time I see the app update available notification because I know I am going to have to spend days trying to get my system working again. It is just getting to the point that it isn’t worth the headaches and the constant worry about whether the system will be working when you actually need it.

I am writing this review because Swann is not giving all models video share option. Why is that, you should tell that when we buy that this option is not available.

Recent news—- I bought a brand new up to date 1080p and it still has problems with this app. So even the new magnetic cameras doesn’t stay connected and doesn’t stream. Absolutely the worst security cameras. Don’t waste your money, DON’T rely on on Swann cameras to watch your house.... Below explains some of my issues with tech support. —. My 4 small 1080p magnetic CAMERAS DON’T WORK since swann went to the new app. I have been with the old app for like 5 yrs. and never a problem. I have these cameras to watch on my 92 yr old mother while I’m at work. I have talked to numerous techs since app switch in June and nothing they will not stream.” On Sept 22 I got a phone call from a tech named Frank who said his supervisor approved 4 new cameras to be sent to me. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED THEM YET!” I called and ask for them to have Frank Marino call me, but i get no where!!!. The dummy’s that answer the phone keep wanting to warranty out my 1080p spotlight camera on my patio. BUT I’m not having problems with that one. However they send a refurbished spotlight camera and i never asked for it... Update spoke to a girl named Liz who said she would stay on top of this and was going to call me back, she never did and Frank still hasn’t called me back. Unreal these camera don’t work with this app, but they were fine with the old app.


Software issues

I have installed Swann NVR. This version of software does not allow to connect directly to static IP and only allows to configure through their dynamic ip management. Old swan softwares allowed direct static ip connection. I don’t know if this is related Swann’s dynamic IP connection issue, but this software sometimes does not connect to my camera. Please add static ip option to this software and respect customer’s right for connection information privacy. I got respose irrelevant answer about how to configure nvr server from the Swan suppot. Again, my simple question is, Is there a way to specify static IP and port instead of QR code while adding a device in this app, Swann Security? I don't see any option for that in this ios app.


Update. Video loss control in version 2

Please consider adding a switch or delay to notifications of video loss. I have one 8580 system that up to 20 times a day notifies me of video loss. The cable provider can’t seem to find the intermitting problem. The outage is always about 30 seconds induration. The app gives the user no control over this. Perhaps an on off switch or even better an adjustable delay of the notification of up to one minute would be great. Video loss is something we all have to deal with for various reasons. Usually they are all are temporary and really no need for a notification. Thanks To the developer who responded to my review. Thank you. However the response didn’t address the issue correctly. My wife and I are both using the Swann security app with the same account login and have 3 NVR8580s. As the app is now we both must see all 3 NVRs. She cannot see just one. She does not want to see my business NVR cameras or get alerts. Yet I need to see all 3 NVRs. The latest release locks Our apps in sync. I cannot delete one NVR on her app as It deletes it on mine also. It seems changes have now been made that limit our ability to use multiple devices with the same account on different phones. For instant. I have 3 homes with Swann NVRs. I monitor all 3 but my wife only wants to monitor our main home. That’s not possible with the latest update. All apps with the same account login must now be logged into all 3 houses. No way around it. It you delete one NVR on one phone It deletes on all phones. I tried a work around. Registered one home with a new account. But I was block from logging to second account on the same app. So now you cannot login to 2 different accounts on the same app. So again a road block. On HomeSafe all the above is possible. I believe this will be problematic for users with multiple devices who need independent app functions. The app should surely allow logging into multiple accounts. Thanks for considering these problems. Playback will not find an intelligent alert. It will not find an alert of people or vehicle. You guys must fix push for everyone using intelligent feature and not using motion. Crashes on playback. notification only works on motion detect now and not intelligent detect. I do not use motion only intelligent so can’t use the app. App still very slow to start up and get logged in and see live. Homesafe is still much faster. Please add sound on/off in playback. Don’t want every one to hear and don’t want to have to mute phone. latest update can no longer add a cctv device ID manually. Still cannot turn speaker off on playback. Still cannot control playback with slide control. Each release Getting better. Thanks. Can’t turn speaker off when in single view screen or on playback. Can’t maintain a video stream in live mode or playback. High image doesn’t work at all. Should play back next event like HomeSafe instead of stopping on the one playback event. Playback control not working at all. Be great if event image could be beginning of playback video like night owl instead of the figure of a person. Many of us have multiple devices and need to be able to select which device, and cameras on each device, to view or playback. Need to sync playback on multiple cameras. When searching for an event and multiple cameras where set to record the event it would be great to know which camera triggered the event. Maybe a star on the trigger icon. Need more screen layout options and Select if screen layout is to be by name or camera order. If viewing multiple devices the cameras on the devices should be shown separated and not mixed together. Not sure why Swann is moving away from homesafe. It works pretty well. Just needs intelligent event search and faster way to playback an event. I am a software developer for a major company. I don’t understand why all Swann apps are not updated when major bugs are present or when improvements to their devices have been made but not to their apps. Swann view has not been updated in almost 2 yrs. These apps are really poorly writing and so many people who have purchased their products are so dependent upon them.
