Since syncing has been fixed, trying app again
rogers, buck

Update:Trying app again now that syncing has been fixed. One star because this app is worthless if it loses all of your work and ideas. I cannot rely on this. I liked it until I lost everything. Fix this and maybe I'll be back.

Wildly exceeds expectations

There are a LOT of writing apps to choose from. I’m so glad that I found this one. It has all the functionality I need to capture my thoughts when inspiration strikes, and I love that it exports to Scriviner.

No subscription please!!
roofoofighter

This app used to be a ONE-TIME PURCHASE, now they have gone to a monthly or yearly SUBSCRIPTION. I’m hesitant to update to the new version in case I have to now subscribe to this app that I ALREADY PAID FOR! I already have too many subscriptions already and I will not sign up for another one for an app that I use only occasionally.

Commendable: Existing Users Exempt From Subscription

Existing users who had purchased the app before the subscription model are exempt from the subscription! This is incredibly rare behavior for businesses these days. I went from wanting to delete the app when I saw the subscription model to wanting to tip the developers for their acknowledgement of existing users. Thank you!

Much improved but still buggy

The UI is really nice, though it doesn’t take long to realize that there are some things that could be improved. My biggest complaint, however, is with iCloud syncing, which just doesn’t seem to work very well. As for things that do work, they work great. The app is a nice little database for dumping story ideas. Things start to feel a little limited beyond that, however. There doesn’t seem to be any way to sort your list of stories aside from the three options given at the top of the stories list (all projects, in progress, and completed). It would be nice to be able to search, sort, and filter the list (such as sorting alphabetically or by last-edited, and being able to filter by tags or genres). It’s also frustrating that you’re given a single text field for capturing notes about your story, which feels very limiting. I understand only having a single Notes field on characters, locations, plots, and scenes, but it would be really nice if notes about the story itself could be treated the same as Characters, Locations, Plots, and Scenes, and have its own tab/table in the database. These limitations aside, there are some features I’d LOVE to see in a future release. One feature that would be really great would be the ability to create hierarchies (or being able to indent) locations, plots, and scenes. At the very least, it would be handy for visualizing sub-plots. There are also a number of bugs. For example, there is no way to manually dismiss the keyboard, and it doesn’t always hide automatically when you navigate away from an input field. The app frequently becomes extremely laggy or non-responsive (I’m on iPhone 11 Pro and latest iPad Pro). Syncing, to me, is the biggest bug. It’s unpredictable, and there isn’t any way of monitoring sync status or sync conflicts. If the bugs were fixed, this app would be four stars. With some additional features, it would easily be five stars.

Thanks for the update!

I’ve been using this app for over a year now (I think) so thanks for still supporting this app and its users! Great job on the new minimalist design. It’s simplistic, easier to use, and now I can separate my finished works from the ones still in progress. Big thumbs up! :)

New GUI is Terrible

The new GUI is terrible.

free trial but i can’t even do anything?
kittyloaves

So I just downloaded this app and immediately after opening it, I get offered to have a free trial. I accept, but that’s not the issue here; after accepting, I literally can’t do anything. I can’t create a story nor can I edit the sample story because I’m stuck in read only mode. Each time I attempt to do anything, I get a pop-up for the subscription. So much for a free trial, huh?

Wow
TannerMo.

Got this app to play around with - opened it after this update and I was shocked. Did not even recognize it, in a good way?? After messing around I’ve found it’s much nicer that it used to be. The only thing I don't like too much is how big “Select an item or create a new one” is. Everything else is honestly splendid.

The subscription model..
zom2311

I luckily am not required to have the subscription (legacy user). Even with that I do not believe the contents here are worthy of a subscription model. A simple price increase would have been better. Personally I’m someone who’d rather pay 10$ for a quality app over paying 10$ a year. If I wasn’t a legacy user I wouldn’t have ever bothered with this app. Update: Dev’s listened to their customers and changed. It’s 5 star again
