Why use gift card
Liked the original app
When SteakNShake first came out with an app, you could link it to any credit card. That was convenient and hassle-free. Once you linked your credit card account with their app it was no further maintenance required. Then they changed the app and you were now required to buy a gift card and link it to the app and continuously reload the card. Very inconvenient. In effect you are required to pre-pay for your next meal. The money is in their bank account drawing interest.I suppose someone got a bonus for coming up with this money making scam.

Love the look of the new redesign! Very simple to use and the addition of Apple Pay is fantastic. One small nitpicky thing is that side dipping sauces really should go under the sides/extras category. It’s super confusing to have to go to the chicken fingers meal to be able to add a side of Frisch sauce if I want to put it on my burger or dip fries.

Better, but still no tip option. That hurts contactless delivery. And no ability to choose time of delivery. Long wait for mediocre update.

The new app doesn’t have a way to scan your receipt. Once they fix that, it will be a five star app.

Payment system will take your money

Arrived to a location in Ohio to find they were only accepting orders via phone and app. Would not answer the phone so we tried this. When submitting the final order, we were greeted with an error and order didn’t go through. Tried another card- another error message and order still did not go through. No confirmation that they had received our order, so we left. Next day, charge was posted on BOTH credit cards. Awful app. Cannot be trusted if this is happening at all and should be pulled from the App Store until they figure out what they’re doing. Fraud
Gift Cards Won’t Work for Mobile Order

The app says that you can only use gift cards saved to the app for mobile orders, not in store. I tried to place an order using my gift card, and the app displayed an error and said that my card needed to be used in store. This is very frustrating and caused me to have to pay with Apple Pay instead.
Insufficient information to Vendor

This app asked for cross information between my apps I declined. I then proceeded to try my location and my zip code to put in an order. It kep complaining about insufficient information to vendor. I have used this app for previous orders and even tried to repeat an order previously ordered at my location. It complained something is not available on the menu anymore. Steak ‘n Shake is showing their true colors and isn’t interested in supporting their customers in making mobile orders. On my last two orders on this app they had been out of the specific fry cup sizes as well as cheese cups and refused to give cheese on the side for fries even though I paid for it. Half of the steak n shakes in my market have closed due to bad business model and this experience just re-iterates how unimportant the customer experience is to them.
