Fumbling in the dark with Ancestral Estate
Dracyy

While the premise of this game is solid and unique - scene and objects change depending on lighting in the room - the execution on iPad leaves much to be desired. Vermin alert : plenty of them, mice spiders rats etc, but my main issues are as follows: 1- hard to see or find objects. This game was originally made for a much larger screen. All they did was squish it down so things are way too tiny. 2- decent diary but no map! It needs one desperately! Tons of back and forth and a transporting map is needed! 3- hint system shows scene but doesn't take you there. You have to remember where the room is and night or day. 4- artwork is not as crisp as it needs to be with this degree of miniaturization. Tasks and items laying about are hard to see or spot. 5- slow loading between scenes 6- no custom difficulty With all this why 3 stars? Because if you can take it, the story really is worth playing. If they had redone the game to make it iPad friendly instead of just shrunken down and iPad compatible the truth is it would have been a 10! Bottom line: if desperate for a new game or if you love a challenge buy it.

Not iPad friendly

Slow to load between scenes. No customization in difficulty choices. It has the look and feel of an older game.

The game is so back and forth you really need to remember every path. The strategy help is hard to get too also,I had to go completely out of the game to get help, very boring.I liked it but didn't enjoy it.

I enjoyed it!

If you're looking for something fairly simple and basic to pass the time while sitting on the beach or on vacation this is probably it. I personally enjoyed it for that very reason. The storyline is kinda bland, the graphics aren't anything special, no map (but in all honesty you don't need one), no glitches, BUT decent fun! The rooms change from creepy to normal and your HO's are different throughout the game so it changes things up a bit. All in all I'm glad it purchased it on sale and had some fun.

No map

This game would be interesting if there was a teleporting map. As it is, it is tedious to the point of being a chore. I would not have purchased if I had known.

Help...

This could of been a 5 star if there had been a transporting map and it was as Darcy said, been made to fit the iPad. It just seemed off somehow. It also was hard to see items.

Good premise, BUT
Gaudete

Horrible game. No transporting map, slow scene-changing, hint is next to useless.

My Dark Secret: My Ancestors Played This Decades Ago!

I am pleased to announce that one of our favorite developers released a new game in the following series: "New York Mysteries: Lantern of Souls" by Five BN. I left a review as did others. Additionally, I stated in my last review that Artifex Mundi released a new one, "Crime Secrets: Crimson Lily." A few BF fans, including myself, left some reviews. It's very fun. I cannot believe that this game was released for us. It's like taking a step back to 2012 when games were still lacking current, advanced features that we are now spoiled with. The good features consist of a good journal, nice old-school puzzles (work em out), satisfactory graphics, and a back button. However, I was so bored that I stopped to write a review. The story line lacks fluidity and is completely uninteresting. I had no problems with transition between scenes, but gameplay is slow to progress. There's much back and forth between the same scenes until you move on. Inventory is labeled but not interactive. There's no customized settings, no map, no collectibles, or extras (there's a bonus chapter). The HOS lack variety and are slightly interactive; I had to use hints to find the blindingly small objects. I did like the twist of changes in the environment, which affects where you find items. The gameplay lacked creativity or innovation to maintain my interest. Do play the other two games mentioned above; you'll be happier. Finally, to Lynx Minx: I'm sorry to hear about your Aunt; my thoughts are with you.
