Fumbling in the dark with Ancestral Estate – Secrets of the Dark: Mystery of the Ancestral Estate HD - A Mystery Hidden Object Game (Full) Review

While the premise of this game is solid and unique - scene and objects change depending on lighting in the room - the execution on iPad leaves much to be desired. Vermin alert : plenty of them, mice spiders rats etc, but my main issues are as follows: 1- hard to see or find objects. This game was originally made for a much larger screen. All they did was squish it down so things are way too tiny. 2- decent diary but no map! It needs one desperately! Tons of back and forth and a transporting map is needed! 3- hint system shows scene but doesn't take you there. You have to remember where the room is and night or day. 4- artwork is not as crisp as it needs to be with this degree of miniaturization. Tasks and items laying about are hard to see or spot. 5- slow loading between scenes 6- no custom difficulty With all this why 3 stars? Because if you can take it, the story really is worth playing. If they had redone the game to make it iPad friendly instead of just shrunken down and iPad compatible the truth is it would have been a 10! Bottom line: if desperate for a new game or if you love a challenge buy it.
