We used slack for about 6 months but it felt like it was becoming more of a "messaging" app vs true collaboration. Quip is simple to use and my company of 16 is quickly adopting to it as it is so intuitive and u know u are collaborating. I prefer the mobile app to the desktop app (it feels like a mobile first product) so on my phone when I'm traveling it's so good! My only gripe is I'd love a notification "beep" on the desktop app so I don't miss messages. Aside from the lake of a beep it's awesome.

This app works great to stay up to the minute on the family grocery list and birthday parties but also keeps people up to date on the work projects.

Perfect combination of functionality and simplicity. It has enough formatting to be instantly presentable, yet it doesn't slow me down. Highly recommended for individuals who take notes constantly. Also recommend for dynamic notes with more than one person. Update 5/24/16: unchanged from above. I still use constantly. I have not used integration with slack, but plan to.

Better than Evernote! Sometimes the doc overview doesn't load properly in thumbnail view. But when you click into the doc and exits out, it loads.

The mobile experience is great. The right mix of functionality and gestures on the UI. The search works. Desktop looks terrible compared to other options. While it doesn't have to be MS office, the lack of functionality makes it sub par and without the collaborative features would make it useless.

Looks promising, but appears buggy (e.g. help screen opens in the same narrow pop-up as the link, so you have to scroll back and forth to read text because it's wider than the window) and has an awkward interface (e.g. difficult to select a column heading in a spreadsheet without activating the title field - and I'm on an ipad pro so there should be plenty of room, I'd think). The instructions - in the form of a checklist with 5 or 6 items - are brief and confusing. For instance, it tells you to add a photo to the document, but does not instruct one how. Because you're in the checklist format, the photo button - on a toolbar above the keboard) doesn't appear unless you unclick the checklist button. Secondly, another item says something like 'see your change history on the left', but there is nothing to the left that I could find; if you swipe left or hit the back arrow at the top of the page, you go back to the inbox. I could not work out how to adjust column width in the spreadsheet mode, and although 'adjust column width' shows up in as-you-type search suggestions, there is no such topic. I clicked the top link - 'how to sort' - but it didn't say anything about column width. One more thing - when I tried signing up with my gmail address, it opened one of those 'sign in with Google' type things where you have to allow it access to your contacts and ...something else, I forget... But it wouldn't let me just register with email until I tried with a .me address. Also annoying. In short, I was pleased with the appearance of the interface and the features that appeared to be available, until I tried interacting with it at which point I became frustrated. After encountering so many flaws in under an hour, all of these glowing, 5-star reviews appear suspect.

It does everything I've been wishing my other notes apps would do. Great collaboration tool for spouses, families, co-workers. Great for making quick notes, including photos and spreadsheets and working on planning projects together. Much faster than opening Word and Excel to do simple projects.

Any person or company that does not heavily use Quip is at a severe disadvantage in life and business.

I love this app! I use it daily, from list making to spreadsheets. Easy to use and so much to offer!

Won't import Google Drive or search Google Drive as advertised despite linking accounts. Even its Help link fails to open.
