Works great on Apple TV. But half of my videos don’t play on iPad. Been an issue for years.

I've used Plex and have been a member for about 10 years now and overall -- especially early on -- it's been a great media app and they've continued to expand access to content as well which has been nice. Sadly though in the last year the ios app has been extremely buggy and unreliable. As a musician I rely on this app to access content and unortunately I have to reboot at least 10 times a day -- many times double that --running this app especially if its the locked screen interface which is useless and inevitabley locks up making players controls useless. I'm looking for alternatives unfortunately but it's just too buggy right now to stay with Plex as a platform.

The actual app itself is worthy of 4 stars - 5 if they’d ever get subtitles working. I only give 2 stars for their complete and total lack of support. Your only option is to go to the public forum. Which is so inundated with desperate users begging for help from each other - that your question moves to page 2 or 3 within a day. Not that it would help since the people who would be reading your question - if they could - are other information seeking lost souls just like you. Not like there is a support staff helping users or anything. So try it, if you must. And,if you have no problems, you’ll probably enjoy it. But sooner or later you’ll encounter a hiccup. And - as you’re deleting it - you’ll remember this review (and hopefully write one of your own)

Impossible to download items in library

All guides/info say you can download an item by visiting its details or ‘the context menu’ but there is no option to download in the details screen or any menu-context or otherwise. Apparently you have to subscribe to get access to ‘sync’ your items for offline play, so I went ahead and upgraded to see if an option would show up. Nothing has. I just want to move copies of my owned media to my devices for offline play during travel. Just finished trying to setup a managed profile for my kid and added the movies that were age appropriate. Logged into the new profile I created to see what would show up and the screen was littered with TV shows that included thumbnails with handguns. There were also horror movies-despite my setting the restrictions on the profile to G and PG. I guess age ratings don’t apply to Plex Picks for whatever reason. App has been sliding downhill for years.

Downloads Feature has broken my app

The new downloads feature now makes the app freeze every 30 seconds or so. Even when not using it. I have to force quit to get it to come back. I tried reinstalling, and switching back to sync. Seems like there are some bugs to work out.

Don’t invest your time and resources into plex, they’re constantly meddling with everything, making it worse with unwanted changes. Recently my server started randomly requiring an entire reset of my computer a few times a day, making it a real joy to use. Seems like I’m not the only one with issues recently. This was right after I replaced my rokus with Apple TV 4ks for better subtitles in plex and took the plunge on a lifetime pass. Now I’m just stuck with barely usable garbage making for a really unpleasant experience. Thanks Plex
