Found Out App Changed My Export Settings

Just about tossed this app, which I’ve been using for a while, because PDFs that I was AirDropping to my iPad & marking up, then AirDropping back to my Mac, were being sent back as some folder full of resources. Figured something was broke and went on to try other apps. Finally figured out the latest updates changed my export settings from exporting as PDF to exporting as NPN. Switched back & problem went away. Not cool. But at least it works again.

Hi developer I have been using this app but recently when i write down, dragging issue and late responses that is so annoying Why do not you guy fix these issue soon?

Obviously no discerning consumer is installing Notes Plus at this point but it is good that it remains in the App Store so people can benefit from the lessons learned. There is no point in rehashing the details of went wrong again here except to highlight that the product was a pretty broadly adopted darling of handwriting recognition fans. They were cleverly tweaking around the edges of the cutting edge of functionality when they rolled out a poorly tested revision and decimated years of user data and essentially self destructed. A timely reminder to be wary when you are integrating a product or function into your critical workflow when you’ve paid less than the price of your breakfast for it. It’s not the bells or whistles (or advertising & promotion) that get short changed at these companies — it’s the basic blocking and tackling ... the testing and risk management. Many probably felt they had a lot of backup ... were as safe as they could be. They couldn’t have imagined a company, so successful to date, would release a revision that would dig all the way back into the historical data, and the way it interacts with the app, and blow it all up. Boom. Chernobyl.

I like this app very much, but i do not like to backup my files to Google Drive, Drop Box, or Evernote. This app would be very helpful if you added OneDrive as well. Thank you. (:

I certainly don’t write reviews. With that being said, know what it must have taken for this app to bring me here. I love it so so much. Like I talk about it with friends (lololol) and family. I take my iPad out just to show them my notebooks. I’m obsessed. Does it need improvement? Yes. Please-I need more covers and customization. I have so many notebooks that I can’t help but have repeat covers and I hate it. Adding and editing images is the only time I hold my breath and clench my fist. Although I have not attempted in quite sometime, perhaps with a higher comfort level using the app all around- I will find ,more success with the feature (which goes to show that it is a feature I’m just bad at it.) I love it. But give me more cover art please.

Notes Plus is one of my favorite apps, definitely the best for versatile and smart note taking. A few updates ago the syncing had a problem, but it is working perfect again after the latest fix.

Absolutely loved the previous versions of this app. I will change this review in a heartbeat once it’s fixed, too. But the data loss and the lack of communication from the developer should stay away. To the developer: once fixed, I would wholeheartedly support your efforts and donate. This used to be a wonderful note taking app and would love to see it thrive. I understand development is tricky, but judging by your current reviews, you have a lot of people who believed in your work before

Sure, the app looks good and has nice writing features. But the problem is on the backend. The back up process isn’t reliable or user friendly. Today, for the third time, notebooks that I depend upon for work just disappeared. When I contacted support, they directed me to iCloud where the folders are a mess. Impossible to tell what is what. The notebooks I lost are NOT there. But the system randomly duplicates other notebooks 5-10-15 times. Those all get saved, but not the one I needed. Gone.

Do not buy it

This app was once my favorite. I used it to write everything. One day, all of my notebooks were blank. Even the cloud backups. My dissertation was completely gone. Luckily, I had it saved on a computer, but about twenty pages hadn’t been sent to the computer yet. I don’t know how many people have worked on a dissertation, but 20 pages was hours of work. Even contacting the devs, they gave me some ways to try and retrieve the data. When I told them again that nothing worked, I was ignored. I’m super disappointed.
