NordVPN was rec’d to me and I am so sorry I tried it out. It took out my Internet connection on a new Mac laptop, making me think that I had been hacked, and it took multiple calls with Verizon and Apple to figure out that NordVPN was the culprit. I emailed them 2x today and no response at all. Their Live Chat button on their website does not work when you click it. Now it’s acting up again at night- same issues: not connecting to VPN servers no matter what country I try, repeatedly putting up pop up windows asking me to give Nord Lynx VPN for my login keychain password so that 3 windows in a row were up at one time, and none could be closed out when I hit any of the options - Allow, Deny, or Always Allow. I took a screen shot to email to them in a 3rd support email but then it completely knocked out my Internet connection again so I couldn’t even share that. When I rebooted, it immediately went to asking me for my keychain password again. I disabled “startup at login” and had to manually uninstall this horrid software. I’m not sure how a co can release a product like this and call it security. I’m calling AMEX to have this charge reversed and am switching to any other VPN service. I wasted most of my working hours today trying to just get online, only to be kicked off time and again. Use them at your own risk.

Finally after a long time I see the VPN is always “ON”. I have had problems keeping it “ON” for reasons I do not understand. I do have some questions for how or if it protects text messaging, emails or phone conversations. I do feel it hides my IP address but would like to know if it conceals masks or scrambles texts & email communications. Also if the VPN masks or stops a scammer from listening to cellphone conversations. I just noticed using an obsfuscated server the VPN TURNS ITSELF OFF. Is this how it should work ? I keep auto-connect “ON” all the time. Thank You

I’ve used NordVPN for almost 2 years without any issues, was very pleased. Now in recent weeks after their “merger” with SurfShark, all kinds of updates happened that have made it more confusing, more steps involved in reconnecting (asking to set configurations several times). Most notably, my phone and laptop Wi-Fi do NOT work with NordVPN active as of last week. I haven’t changed anything personally on my devices, the ONLY thing that changed was their service. No apps or internet loading, texts not sending, etc. The second I disconnected and turned off VPN, Wi-Fi worked lightning fast and everything running again. Whoever handled this merger/update from a technical development perspective dropped the ball big time. Will be reviewing CNET for better options.
