Needs UI update

staunchnortheasterner

The UI looks very antiquated and only for iPads. I can barely see what’s on the cover of every issue unless I open them!

Do not trust Apple News Subscriptions

Cap'nPissGums

Beware - they do not honor what you pay for on Apple News and cannot find your subscription when you cannot access NatGeo articles - it’s a scam

Awefull !

Well, the iPhone experience is awful! I don't expect them to optimize the app or content for iPhone 6+ anytime soon. But one of most important features of NG is and has always been its photographs ! And photo viewing is so bad on my i6+ ! The pix are so small on 6+'s screen (about the size of 5-5S i guess), positioned on the lower left corner (a bug I assume) and scrolling is a disaster ! Hope they fix them soon ! I really mis my iPad for magazine reading ?

Needs work

ChemistofBerkeley

The app is slow to respond and gives obscure error messages.

Horrid app

It makes you pay to look at it and I deleted it right away it costs to look at a magazine

Great! But...

TenneyGirl

Wonderful. Finally able to read my Nat Geos. Picture quality awesome, haven't needed to change text size. One complaint so far... When my phone auto locks after not having touched the screen for a few minutes (I think mine is set to auto lock at 5 minutes) it scrolls you all the back to the beginning of the article!!!!!!! Losing your place while reading, having to go back and find where you ACTUALLY left off. That's my only problem so far with the app. Otherwise, hooray for Nat Geo!!!

Difficult to Navigate

It takes patience to simply open and read anything on this app. There isn't even an iPad icon with which to open it! You have to go through Newsstand. It does not maintain previously purchased issues. Very disappointing!

Gorgeous graphics and use of device

I rarely take the time to write app reviews but wanted to comment on this on. I view this on an iPad and the graphics are stunning. NG also makes an effort to take advantage of the medium so you don't just get repurposed magazine content on a digital device. Its a beautiful experience.

Better before update, no bookmarks, no Plus support

HobbyGuitarist

Before updating, when I came back to the app after closing it, it would remember where I was in each article. I tend to read articles a bit at a time on the train, and having to find my place each time is irritating -- especially since it used to be fine. And unlike some others, I actually preferred the page by page scrolling vs continuous. That's not a huge issue if it would remember where I was or provide bookmarks though. The new design also wastes space at the top of eac screen for a new, rather pointless toolbar. I'd rather it maximize screen real estate for the content and provide (infrequently used) tools via some other method. Overall, I love the content, but am disappointed in the new version of the app. Update: the above issues are still problems -- especially that it doesn't remember where you left off reading. And now there's a new problem: the photos for which the magazine receives so much acclaim, do not scale up to fill the screen on the 6 Plus (nor 6S Plus?). Very annoying.
