Pop ups now???

vette4lyn

When I start to read my issue, I get these irritating pop ups asking me to subscribe. I am already subscribed!!! It won’t go away completely but stays in the bottom left corner and is always there. Then I get another pop up for “Compass”. I am not interested! But then my iPad locks up completely and I have to get out and back in. Who paid these website programmers to ruin a perfectly good magazine. They are always changing and “updating”. Just leave well enough alone. It was working perfectly last year. Very irritating. I may have to go back to the print version to be able to read a story without interruption. Very sad...

Horrible App

CoolBruno

Long term National Geographic subscriber (40 years). Given they replaced a great app with this piece of junk where you cannot look at content offline. Thinking seriously of not renewing and stopping my support.

Great for reading on phone!

appstoreeric

I really like this new app. The setup is nice and simple for checking a quick daily read, taking a look at a photo, watching a video or reading the monthly magazine... and the format for reading the magazine on the phone is great! I like being able to just scroll to read the article titles, then click strait to the article.

Blurry

Why are all of the images blurry???? It’s a shame to show such great photography like this.

They have gone to digital accounts and my apple purchase no longer works. I cannot download magazines to read off line.

Death of a tremendous resource in the digital age

AreBe49

Having subscribed to National Geographic for the last 45 years, I am appalled at what has happened to the digital edition. All of my past paid for issues are no longer available. One of the nice things about digital magazine editions is transportability and no need to keep old paper copies. This feature has been removed as has the magazine format. Although I still enjoy the print edition, the loss of the online magazine app and past issues will assure that my current subscription is my last. I must comment on the few developers “responses”. I have seldom seen more lame responses to sincere subscriber complaints. Your developers have apparently been looking into restoring some features for a year now with no success. The developers are either still learning how to create a useful app or are being prevented from doing so by management/ownership. Given the ownership since 2015 - Fox - I would assume the later. So, see ya’ when and if you return to customer satisfaction as a publishing principle.

Content v. Format

Piyus'a

As a subscriber for 50 years I find the stories compelling. I’ve read issues on iPad for 7 years. Every year you steal away my back issues, they’re only electronic issues and I paid for them!! The app is in the worst condition since the iPad was invented. Scrap or fix the Tap, Pinch, Zoom junk feature, it does not work on any iPad made in past 4 years. The stories all read in different directions. Content from the paper magazine is no longer included in app edition. Every January you tell me to pay for last years issues and put a price on them. Vanishing downloads. Crashing app. A first rate knowledge provider like National Geographic can certainly afford to hire a better app developer to showcase content. Your Customer Service is clueless about all of the above!

Still not a magazine

slywy

The app remains an aggregation of web links and not a magazine.

I Agree, what Improvement?

I was excited at first when I could get the National Geographic online. We are full timer RV’ers and I didn’t want to have to give up my National Geographic magazine because we have been subscribers for over 30+ years. I liked the way that the magazine came online looking just like the paper magazine. It was easy to read etc. Then National Geographic changed the format and I can’t get any of the digital things inside the magazine to work like they did before. What gives NG? I’ve complained to customer service several times and never get a response. You are a big enough company with a huge following to fix these problems and if you don’t want to start losing subscribers I would suggest you fix the glitches you have! This is a mobile device day and age so fit your online problems and stay on top of them and listen to your customers!

App update

la2161

This is what happens when Fox takes over....a product that was once amazing and incredible is now, nothing but trash. I hadn’t looked at the app for a while, but was very disappointed with the new update. What happened to all the videos and downloaded back issues? The new design looks as if a 5th grader did it. I’m considering canceling my digital membership and I encourage others to do the same.
