Great app. Needs work

Sparky 223

I recently purchased the my cloud home hard drive for back up Mac /iPhone/iPad via the easy to use app for your phone. Incase of the devices crash. And I was getting my self familiar with how the application works and I noticed that the application is missing functionality. But overall it works as described

Sharing files

I was really excited to get a my a cloud home drive. It was easy to set up and I was able to get it up and running. I would give my cloud a high rating for those items. The auto backup option also throws my rating up there but only on this pluses. However, the biggest let down was the integration of applications. I was hoping to have the option of my apps save directly to my cloud home drive however that is not the case. I have to admit I was hoping to use this drive as a way to backup and store my data automatically as I would with iCloud to cut down on iCloud space costs. When I try to save and access files from my Cloud drive, I am unable to “see” myCloud to access files. I will have to physically save the file somewhere and then transfer the file later which can be confusing because I’m not sure which is the current file. Also, it would be nice to be able to store my mail and calendar files to my cloud so all my devices can access the same file just as you can do with iCloud. Hopefully this will be reviewed and improved. Thank you -CM

MyCloud Home is not mobile

I echo the earlier review about poor iOS integration. It is a joke to claim the device is mobile-friendly. Very disappointed.

Junk that Sanford & Son would scrap

This device is marketed as a backup storage device for PCs, OS devices etc but it is just a hunk of junk that takes your files that becomes difficult and nearly impossible to retrieve. I was told by WD that it could take days to retrieve files if your lucky. I am at the point that I may need to spend more money then I paid for the device to send to s 3rd Party to try to retrieve the files!!

Crap App

Great concept. Implementation is horrible. The auto-backup is “auto” in name alone. Just doesn’t backup like other photo services and inevitably I have to manually back up. App seems to be an afterthought.

Still not updated for iPad Pro 11”

obasijuwade

Many, many months after a new screen format, the app is still to be updated to support the 11” iPad, meaning that videos are letterboxed with huge bezels on either side, or you have to view videos with another app like VLC, which crashes if you try to fast forward when used with My Cloud.

Makes me want to punch puppies

I can not believe how big of a piece of ? this device is. WD you REALLY phücked up with this one. App isn’t much better either. ??

Dumbed down version

I have 2 WD Ex2 drives I use with the older MyCloud app. Bought the new “MyCloud Home” thinking it was the same. I’m returning it tomorrow. Very basic storage with no personalization possible. On the Ex and even older MyCloud drives you can add your own folders, sub folders, etc. so you can organize documents by subject, or whatever. If the new “improved” cloud is all they have, I’ll keep looking.
