I’ve had this app for a year or so now.. it works great. I even got a subscription. However, that’s the problem. You can subscribe through the app, but you can’t unsubscribe through the app. This is really frustrating because I just need to stop my membership for a few months to save some money but I was planning to resuscribe. Now I don’t think I will do that. I don’t like being trapped like that. Even though it’s just a feature, it feels very deceitful.

...but that’s a mighty low bar. As a very disappointed subscriber, who has supported the Times through despite the crappy app & website, I’m very glad to see something usable and readable. I hope this will actually let us read the content we need and come looking for.

The new update is radically superb - I love seeing the paper then going to read a digital story! Thanks for incorporating this paper/digital experience - it’s retro and modern at the same time. It really helps to have context and understand your headline prioritization. And keep up the great reporting, too!

Unable to log into the new App

Two days ago I downloaded the new iPad App and since them I am unable to log in with my subscription. I have already reached the max amount of articles I can read without logging in, so now I can‘t even read the LA Times anymore even though I pay monthly. My husband has the same problem on his iPad since the new App installation. Also, since the new App installation, we can‘t log in to LA Times via our Apple News App anymore. Really, something has gone wrong in development. I still have the old App on my iPhone and here everything works fine, both in the Times App and in Apple News. I contacted customer service yesterday but they did not understand the problem. They wanted me to log out of my browser, clear cookies and log in again. Obviously they did not understand that I was talking about the iPad App (even though it clearly said so in my email). I did what they said, but obviously doing things on a browser does not fix a problem in an App and so it happened. I still can‘t log in. I will try contacting them again in the hope they will fix it one day. FYI: We have the iPad Pro 10.5“ and 11“. My iPhone is generation Xs. All devices have the newest iOS (July 19 2019).
