Simply doesn’t work :(

VIWarheit

What gives? Sometime in the last month, shortly after I bought a paid subscription, the app simply stopped working. I thought maybe it was an update issue — but downloading the most recent update has made no difference: all screens are either blank or give a dialogue box saying “please try later”. The only thing that works is the e-newspaper - the same thing I get in my email. What’s the point of this app, if nothing works?!

Bug in scrolling

blackdogwhite2

View paper as enewspaper Select an article to read by poking it Click ‘close’ after reading article - this returns you to full page enewspaper. You will now not be able to scroll to bottom of the page, but can scroll way off the top. Swipe to the next page and then swipe back and full scrolling will be restored.

Cannot read latimes.com

stevehanks

I’ve subscribed to this app for years, unlimited digital access, never missed a payment, but still cannot read latimes.com. I hit the paywall, it dies not recognize my subscription. Despite dozens of phone calls and emails to latimes tech support, they cannot or will not fix this. All of the links in their newsletters default to latimes.com, where I’m blocked by the paywall. It is a great newspaper but the worst customer support I’ve ever encountered. I’m going to have to give up and unsubscribe.

Worst app support ever!

J_W_55

Here is something you should know: if you purchase the unlimited digital access through iTunes you cannot share with others notwithstanding that the FAQ says you can. Eight emails and three calls with useless tech support people at LA Times got me nowhere. I support on line journalism but the lack of sharing is a rip-off!

Easy to navigate

Once I figured out how to activate my digital subscription, I’m enjoying the app. It’s easy to use and navigate.

E-newspaper gripes

Berticus58

Tapping an article to read it full screen often doesn’t work on page 1, I need to jump forward multiple pages to find a page where it responds to a tap, then tap left all the way back to article 1. The crossword prints on 2 pages (except on Sunday.) Also the Sudoku and Kenken could easily print on one page.

App Freezes

The app freezes and must be restarted nearly every time I use it. This has been ongoing for about a year. It is annoying enough that I look elsewhere for news.

Love the newspaper format but...

AlanC19

I’ve been using the LA Times app and its sister web app for years. The newspaper-like form is like reading the regular paper but much better, especially on an iPad which brings me to a major bug that’s been in this version for months. After reading an article (clicking on it brings it up in full screen) and closing it to return to the newspaper format, the app no longer scrolls. Any articles on the lower half of the page are unreachable. Go to the next page and it scrolls fine, go back to the previous page and scrolling up and down no longer works. I would have expected this bug to have been fixed a long time ago, but updates come and go and it doesn’t get fixed :-(. Otherwise, I love this app and the newspaper.

Can’t scroll entire page after closing an article

BarryJS

When closing an article on my iPad to go back to a page I cannot scroll all the way to the bottom. This has happened with many versions, but seems to get fixed. Currently this problem has been going on for months. A work around was to swipe ahead one page and then go back. With the latest version I have to go ahead TWO pages and come back. Otherwise this is a good app for reading the paper.
