Touch to open rarely works.

FloundericiousWA

I find it highly ironic that the last software update was to make the touch to open function work better because that’s about when it stopped working at all for me. Not that it ever worked all that well. But now my lock cannot see me when I am standing 6 inches from the door. At least before the latest update it worked most of the time.

Doesn’t work well

Polixeni33

For the cost of this lock, plus the cost of having a handy man assemble this to the office door of my business, is not worth the cost. Me, the bartender, and two of my managers all have access to be able to unlock office door to our business with their smart phones, so they can cash out servers or to get change for registers, or get bottles of liquor. The staff is so upset they decided to use the key instead. Every time I have my Kēvo app open and touch the Kēvo door part, it doesn’t even open more than 70% of the time. So I have to kill the app, restart Kēvo and then touch the knob for the darn thing to work. It’s very aggravating. The company needs to fix the major bug issues that is preventing it from working the way it needs to be. The whole reason why I bought this is because so I don’t have to carry keys around and just use my phone since I have it always with me anyway. I Got this to make my life easier and it barely works. Very disappointing. I wish they can do something to fix this once and for all. They need to speed this thing up Thank you

Don’t bother. My family HATES our Kēvo

Simply2fly

It NEVER unlocks as you approach the door but will often lock as soon as you open it - like answering the door. Open door. Dead bolt activated. Manually close the bolt, it “locks” again. Close the door, deadbolt doesn’t lock. Tap it three times... deadbolt doesn’t lock. Pull out your key, Swear like a sailor, have your family look at you like the pitiful fool you are for buying this POS.

Crap

Does not work. Touch lock...wait...fails. You have to have the app pulled up most of the time to unlock/lock. Might as well dig your key out. Fobs work well but cost additional $25 each. Should be included with product in order to make it function as advertised. Unless you intend to but fobs you should avoid Kēvo.

Inconsistent

Bertranoids

This lock doesn’t work. It’s a hassle and is stupid.

It’s a huge battery drain.

Ijrose

For an app that just barely works it sure does eat up a ton of battery life. Considering uninstalling it for that reason .

Still buggy as Hell

Joe in Los Angeles

Why I don’t rip this (Gen 2)off my front door is a mystery to me. I was foolish enough to drop ANOTHER C note for the Kēvo+ in the hope that that would improve it. What was I thinking???? I have an iPhone X, my roommate a Galaxy 7 Edge. So, both major phone OSs covered. Still not working. It’s unreliable and frustrating. I DO NOT recommend this at all. Unless you like looking at pretty rotating lights; while remaining locked out of your home.

Used to love this lock

Scottie S

It’s been a sketchy ride since iOS10. The first couple years I would brag about the lock and even encourage others to get it. At this point though, if I do t use the app for a day, it locks while running in the background. I have to pull out my phone and open the app for the lock to recognize. Reinstalling the app sometimes fixes it for a day or two, but that’s no solution. I do have a gen1 lock, so maybe it’s just run its course. I have no intentions to buy a newer one since part of it is the app. Also, the complete lack of supposed for HomeKit, after this long, I’ll be picking up one that supports the ecosystem I know and love. Just can’t keep making excuses for this lock or the app anymore.

Terribly buggy

spookybathtub

It's incredibly frustrating to not be able to open your door. Ever since I bought my Kevo over 2 years ago, the response time has been a bit slow (average 5 seconds). Since then, I've upgraded iPhone hardware and software several times, and it continues to have problems. Very often, I have to launch the app to make it unlock, and sometimes reboot the phone. I wish I could just get a refund for this stupid lock. EDIT: Now I've updated to iOS 11.2.1, and performance is as bad as ever.

$200 deadbolt with cool blue lights

craM Marc

This product is now effectively a traditional deadbolt. Connectivity Is extremely slow and often times a failure all together resulting in the use of the key. Really it’s just a deadbolt with a blue light on it. Until the developers can improve connectivity, I would not waste money or time buying/using this product.
