2 years in, time to switch to Nest\Yale

mydoglogan

Unfortunately disappointed with the lock and software. Often fails to connect, bluetooth or wifi. I’ve repeatedly recalibrated, but doesn’t really help. We’ll see if Nest\Yale can do better.

Horrible

Horrible is an understatement

I won’t buy another one...

And I want to return the this one. Kēvo rarely connects automatically. Kēvo is not hands free unlocking.

You have to open the app for the door to lock.

Marc vslice

In order for the door to lock you have to open the app and have it running which is a major flaw

Software upgrade

3299711

Kevo upgraded the software last year and the lock has not worked properly since then. No remote access, it only works when I am standing in front of it. I used to be able to let my kids in when I was not home. Now, nothing.

Critical Battery Errors

Ricks1957

Brand new batteries and I get error codes daily. What a piece of crap my Kevo lock is!!!???

Doesn’t work well

Whitie2422

80% of the time it’s faster and more convenient to take my keys out of my pocket and unlock the door. I got this for convenience to be able to open my door when my hands were full and not have so many keys on my person. Most of the time I have to touch the lock 3-4 times before it locks or unlocks. Never does it work the first time. I’m upset that I purchased it. I have an iPhone X, good WiFi, and I stand and keep my phone In the same place every time I use the lock as the directions say. Maybe the newer generation works better but this lock doesn’t work as advertised.

It doesnt work

thetwistedsol

I’ve called customer service to solve the issue and they have no answers. It worked at first most of the time and now not at all unless I open the app as I’m trying to unlock the door. Now it it rarely does it when the app is open.

Really flawed

Patrickobrady

It works most of the time but those times when you walk out of the house to walk the dog or check the mail and you hear the door lock behind you, those times tend to change your opinion really fast. I've called and they say my lock doesn't have that feature as an option yet 3-5 times now I've been locked out of my own house. 95% of the time I bring my keys or my phone even if I'm just going to the mailbox because you have no way of knowing when it's going to happen ? ------ update ------- My update is that this app keeps getting worse. Its a nice concept but terribly executed. The only way for my to open my lock without a key is to open the app and click on the lock in the app. Touching the actual lock with my finger does nothing now. I think I paid $175 for this lock 2 years ago. My options are to use it as a traditional key lock or replace it.

So close to what I want... hope updates get it there

I really do like this product, the way it looks, easy to self install, Alexa integration and what the app does currently, it does well.... I just want it to do more. No app updates in 5 months goes between worrying me, and making me excited for the big changes coming... I hope for the latter, because what I want is: 1. Ability to not need the app open at all. With the Kevo Plus installed, I feel like there is some ability between bluetooth and wifi to get it to understand I’m there, without the app actually being open... because I’m an app closer. 2. Even more desirable for me... I want a push notification when the lock has remained unlocked for “x” number of minutes. Nexx Garage informs me when my garage door has been left open, so I feel like this is a no brainer... just a pop up “ Your Side Door Lock has been unlocked for 30 minutes”. Again, with Kevo Plus, should be a snap! Before you say it, the notification for when someone uses the lock is NOT the answer I’m looking for, because that only works when the touch is used, we are still a key household, the touch is only for secondary backup and guests... which brings me to point 3. 3. Kind of goes with point one... but I’d like to know who unlocked the door with the key as well. Basically I want it to sense the closest phone with the app and a e-key and tag a lock/unlock history entry with that person, even if they use a physical key to do it. Then if there is no valid e-key present, have an “unknown” history entry still, so I at least know my lock was unlocked by someone... So basically a few more “bells and whistles” would make this 5 stars easy! Hopefully the developer has been spending the last 5 months wisely.
