Misleading prices, don’t waste your time

Don’t waste your time and use a different source or just get a hotel. HomeAway shows you a “price” and then adds unpredictable fees at checkout, making it far more expensive than you think. It doesn’t allow you to search or sort by the true total price. To find out the true price you have to click into each listing one by one and waste your time before you get to see the ridiculous $800 cleaning fee, or three different “administrative” fees etc. Poor user experience and just ends up being the same cost as a hotel.

I always use HomeAway for our travel accommodations. Booking is easy and payments are secure. So far, all the properties we’ve booked were as stated in listing. I do rely heavily on reviews and owner responses.

It would be nice to be able to add members to your reservation and them be able to message with the owner. The adding guests part doesn’t seem to actually do much.

While trying to place second payment on the app. X2, the next screen says payment 2 of two is made. You can’t tell that you have to continue and put in credit card info again. This was exasperating for both myself and the owner. This is my fourth time using home away, I didn’t have this problem before. Cathy Verry
