This Company Revoked My Librarian Status Because Racism

Addy L. E. Walker

On January 5, 2021, my 10+ year librarian status was revoked. They accused my list description as “hate speech” and “bigotry.” I specifically asked what was hateful. They pulled up the list I made on MY AFRICAN-AMERICAN CULTURE and stated I couldn’t exclude books based on sexuality, gender identity or religion. When I asked where in the guidelines does it say that and others are allowed to exclude based on excluded race, sex, gender, ethnicity, orientation, identity, class, political views, religions, nationality, even skin tone they stopped responding to my emails. Very strange. First they claim hate speech, which they never pointed out, then they changed it to exclusion and they never showed me where it was against their rules or why others could exclude. They are liars and are clearly singling me due to race. Because I’ve searched throughout Goodreads when someone had their librarian status revoked it was due to abuse of librarian status. I didn’t abuse my status and I don’t need need librarian status to make a list description so why was it revoked? They also erased the description. Even though they specifically state they would only do that with lists about child abuse, hate groups, and smut. What does black American culture have to do with either of these things? I looked at their company edits and they have literally never done that to anyone else that I could tell. Even more strange is this company featured my list that excluded certain races, ethnicity, and nationality for over a year. This company is obviously anti-black and phony. Clearly virtue signaling after the 2020 protests.

Needs a revamp

I love goodreads ! But, this app needs a major revamp! I would love to see it become more aesthetically pleasing! As well as the option to give a half star rating. The color scheme and the apps interface all together is just extremely outdated.

save my updates…

mercutio patrick

love this app but it’s getting on my nerves… when I update my progress for books, it only saves the text about half the time. very annoying to look back at my reading updates and see many of them blank where they should have a quote or note on the text. it also sometimes just doesn’t save my update at all, so I have to type the whole thing over. the website is worse though, so I choose to use the app. please fix this issue I really need my quotes to save ?

Cute lighthearted book. A quick fun read.

The perfect app for readers!

bribiniasz

I love goodreads and have been using it for years. It’s great to keep track of all the books I’ve read and seeing what other people read to get recommendations. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn’t hard to find/add friends. I would also love if there was a separate category for audio books. But overall, it’s a great app!

Loving this series

Ancient and clunky

Hugh R Heinsohn

Really old-looking UI. Obvious features missing. Big community but that’s about the only thing good about it.

Must have app for book lovers

This app keeps me up to date with new and noteworthy but I really love how I can look up a book and get instant reviews and information. Hi use the library for most of my reading so It’s a great tool. I also love keeping track of the books I have read. It’s very special to look back and see my favorites and be able to recommend those to friends and family.

Glitchy

Danosaure

The app keeps marking books as “read” when I haven’t completed it and creates new reading sessions.
