Frustrating

Caitlin J L

Overly complex and unintuitive. It takes three or four steps to do things that should take one (adding books to a shelf, for instance, or even just navigating to see all your downloaded books). A couple months into using it, the covers vanished from all my books, so now I just have bookshelves full of gray squares I have to click into in order to see what they are.

Skips chapters

I’ve tried two books with Glose. Each book had chapters missing or many (50+) pages missing. Impossible to read obviously.

Trouble maintaining your place

MDulude

I’ve gotten so used to the workings of the Kindle app and its ability to even sync across devices that it just seemed keeping your place in a book should be rudimentary for a reader app. Glose routinely loses my place and I need to go find it again and the navigation tools are very basic. Sometimes, the app just shows a blank screen and it takes swiping the app out of the app list and coming back into it to then go find my place. The app works OK but be prepared to be disappointed compared to other reader apps.

Just Adequate

Something as simple as the night mode setting is hidden so well I’ve given up trying to find it. Once I’m done with the free book I got for signing up I’ll delete this app.

Unusable on an iPad

SymoAnnie

Very frustrating app. Slow, stutters, randomly reverts to previous page or even the beginning of the chapter. Difficult to impossible to get the menu up while on a page. Can’t change the font, I was stuck on an extremely small one. Finally gave up and uninstalled it.

You don’t know how good Kindle is until you use Glose

Absolutely stay away from this reading app. Not intuitive, awkward to use and had too many interruptions while trying to read. Download time is too long options that you would like are not intuitive. I would give no stars if an option.

Worst book app

I used this for a study guide. I have to close the app to get books to load. Highlighting takes forever one sentence at a time. Not a fan!

Just Awful

ShenGen

All of the reviews about the app’s glitches are true. It will skip ahead 20 pages in the blink of an eye, I have learned to not attempt any of the apps “features” like highlighting or word definition. They don’t work. But what bugs me the most is the battery drain. OMG! Forget to completely close the app and walk away or fall asleep, and you’ll come back to a dead device. Even if it was fully charged when you started reading. That, more than anything else, makes me hate this app. I have to use it for ebooks from a certain publishing house. If not for them, I’d delete this app and forget it ever existed. It is not worth the aggravation. Stay away if you can.

Awful

Frustrating to use. Why WSJ+ switched from Bookshout is beyond me. Keeps switching back to the beginning of a book’s chapter or just loses its place. Hard to enjoy reading. And I don’t need a reading nanny.

Crappy app

Only use because books offered by Wall Street Journal download to the app. Wish they would use Kindle or just about anything else.
