Does not work

The app won’t connect 80% of the time sitting at the loading gdo screen. When it does load it shows the door in the proper positions open or closed but when you send it a command it does not execute the command. It has angered me so much I believe it will end up at the gun range here soon as a bright target...

Total crap right now.

This used to be a really good app. Now it seems that it is going down almost every weekend and there is no response from ryobi or their developer. Maybe they ran out of money because this was such a good product all built together. If they make it reliable and compatible with some of the automation available it would be great. If you want to control your garage door with an app, can no longer recommend this or their GDO.

Don’t buy it
Nata cat:)

The Ryobi GDO is the worst GDO I ever used. Looks nice, the attachments concept is cool, but Ryobi did a really bad work with the app and the indoor control pad. First you send commands using the app and none work. I spend $100 on the air compressor and since I need to use the app, and the app does not works... well guess what?! another thing that does not work. The control pad stop working after a month. Terrible manufacturing.

Always issues
honestscotty

Always seems to have issues 1)never knows if the door is open or closed. 2)simple things like forgot password tells you your unauthorized when all you want it to do is send an email, so you can reset the password. 3) works about 20% of the time I would never buy a ryobi smart home thing again. Save your money and run away from this garbage.

HORRIBLE!!!!

Stopped working

Paid good money for the garage door and accessories. Took me a while to troubleshoot the internet connectivity issue with cameras. Received little help from ryobi. Now the opener won’t work with the remote at all. If you look in my garage it’s 90% ryobi tools. This was partially due to value of the tools and partially customer service. Seems that customer service is plummeting at ryobi. Will rethink my next purchase.

Unable to get the app working, does not allow you to reset password

Update killed the app

Update 4 7/6/2020: App is totally useless now. It does not control accessories or the garage door. Can I give zero stars? Update 3: latest update basically rendered the app useless. We can only open and close the garage with remote controls. App only turns accessories on and off. Update 2: I has been about three weeks since my last review update. Right after I wrote the last update, the issue was solved. I no longer needed to open or close the garage. Just today, the app was correctly monitoring of the door was open or closed. This is a huge improvement! I am now having difficulty connecting the camera add on. This is most likely on their server end. I am adding 1 Star and giving the app 2 stars now. Why not more? I want this to be part of my smart home, but there is no way to use Alexa, Siri, SmartThings, Hubitat, or IFTTT with it. This limits how ‘smart’ it really is. The other reason is the improvements have been great, but they only fixed basic features that should have worked out of the box. In addition these updates are random and you get no notice about changes. Update 1: A day or two after I wrote the review below, an update claiming to resolve this issue was released. The update did not solve the issue and it continues to be a pain to use. Latest update took away the lag time, but now I can only send one command (eg open) before the app stops working. In other words, I can use it to open the garage door and then I have to fully close and restart the app before I can get the close function to work. At least the last version I could open and close the door without restarting the app.

App never works never tells when the door is open or closed. Now I can’t even log in and won’t allow me to recover a password. Worthless!

**** STAY AWAY, BUYER BEWARE ***** Total Junk Don’t Bother

If there was an option to give 0 zero stars, I would have selected it. It took a long time to setup as it was getting confused which component of the GDO was actually the one running. Control buttons are not always working, no backlight on main panel, air compressor module never worked from day one, total junk. The app is no better. I challenge the developer to try to reset a password. Next why does the GDO send false positives of door opening when there’s engine noise of a leaf blower outside/inside the garage door. Emailing tech support is totally useless as no one monitors the help desk. Not sure what Ryobi’s relationship is to the developer, but looks like both are as shotty as can be. I will never buy anything Ryobi and should have known better when all GDOs went on sale below $150 at Home Depot two years ago. I am stuck with this half developed product with no help in sight. **** STAY AWAY, BUYER BEWARE *****
