Always failing to do the basics

Shout House

Funimation your developers are failing miserably. The basic functions of the app barely work. Most obvious features (including the ones you have attempted to build in) are missing or just don't work. The recently watched is completely broken. It only ever shows the first episode of a show you watched at some point at some time, not even the most recent. This brings me to my next point. The default language is completely broken. If I recently watched a show in English it doesn't matter. If I try to use the recently watched (from the home page or even within the specific show page) it will always default to subbed with English titles instead of English dubbing. The show won't auto play the next episode and you have to turn the device 10 times to get it to realize that you obviously want to watch it in landscape mode. It's infuriating that a paid subscription service would have such a lack of functionality. If you want to beta test an app give us the option to use something that does work in the meantime.

Anime. Anytime. Anywhere.

The best place to watch anime on your iOS device.

Can't even do the basics?

Jboy0906

I signed in and I'm pushed to pay for subscriptions that I can't even buy. This is so annoying all I want to do is watch my shows but the app fail to make that happen. The older app functioned way better than this mess. I don't know why they moved all our favorite shows and stuff onto an app that won't do what it was meant to.

iOS problem? Still shaky but better

Superduper Supersaiyan

Honestly, much better then last time. Though the notification should tell you to check your system AND APP settings for iOS. Though the recently watched is broken and it's kinda choppy moving through the app you can't beat funimation. Within minutes found Dragonball, DBZ, and a lot of other full shows that were harder to find. Keep it up right! For my kinda Anime fans, I say thank you and keep up the SUB/DUBBED

WHATS THE POINT???

There is no point for this "free" app if you have to pay 8 bucks a month! Why can't we just download an app, watch anime and enjoy ourselves.

A few flaws at launch, but not bad

Dialexio

(Updated on 5/29/2016) This app is actually pretty well done for a first release… Kudos to Funimation! On a mobile device, it's a much more pleasant experience than watching videos on Funimation's website. Of course, being a first release, it's not without its share of issues. First thing I noticed was… The intro video doesn't work at all on iPads. Not exactly a good first impression, but I'll carry on. The text seems oversized in some areas, though this appears to be the UI style. When you bring up the main menu, the menu items dwarf the "FunimationNow" logo in the center of the navigation bar. It would also be nice if you could change the genres listed on the main page; fan service isn't everyone's cup of tea, after all. Playback is a bit odd compared to other video apps. For whatever reason, audio is muted if your device has the mute switch on— a bit strange given that other video apps do not do this. Playback controls do not include a volume slider, though you can always use the volume buttons on your device. The playback controls are a little small (on an iPad), and can take a bit of time to fade away— you should be able to tap on the screen to make it disappear. Video quality cannot be adjusted, so you may end up hitting your cellular plan's data cap quickly. (There is an option to stream only from Wi-Fi, however, but being able to stream 480p on a cellular network would be nice.) One thing to note: currently, the FunimationNow app does not appear to allow free users; you must have a paid subscription. It would be nice to see a free (but limited) tier available for the app. At the moment, they are offering a free 30-day trial though. Initially, I gave this app four stars since it wasn't perfect but looked promising. However, it appears that FUNimation actually intends to maintain the app, so I have downgraded my rating.
