App not functional

Inkyfish

I got Flow because it is heavily promoted and it seemed great at first. Then after a few drawings it got slower and started crashing all the time. Finally it baulked on a line drawing and said I had too many lines. Too many lines in a drawing?? Um… do they know what a drawing is? Now the app is completely broken and won’t open any of my canvases, it just has forever loading icon and then crashes. I deleted and downloaded again and the same thing. So I’ve lost access to all my drawings. I’ve since started using Procreate and it’s way better, I’ve had no problems with it and it has way more features than Flow. I have also used Goodnotes for basic drawings and it works well also. Don’t use Flow.

Great app but maybe… consider?

Ok this is a wonderful app for collaboration But it’s not ideal because of the lack of tools and features For example: -Y’all could add Fill, and HSL color input As well as: -The ability to zoom out past the page border, -Zoom in more for fine details, -And increase height or add the ability to chose page dimensions, as without this working on a practical drawing for printing or something like that near impossible. So if y’all could add these things the app would be a lot better and a LOT of my friends would actually use it, they don’t currently because it lacks what your competitors have and I’m pretty sure y’all want it to surpass the other brands. I KNOW they would use it if y’all included this and made it the best drawing app out there without making it to subscription heavy. Thanks for the app please consider these changes as a lot more people would use this app. -Milo

Pretty good- but glitchy

Honestly, this is a great tool! Mostly I’ve been using it for unstructured sketches and for storyboarding, but it seems to hold up under scrutiny. Full warning, I still haven’t shelled out for the full version. Might do that if they fix the bugs I’ll describe below. Tools - the tool options mimic actual tools; their layering is great while not mimicking most digital softwares (you can’t go from dark to light with a highlighter, for instance, just as you can’t IRL.) It’s limited, but in a way that makes it more interesting and easy to use, as someone who sometimes gets overwhelmed by Procreate’s selection. The ruler is a work of art in and of itself, to be honest. Colors - Their selection is fantastic. I wish sometimes that they had more high value high saturation colors (like neons,) but I’m not upset at it at all. Seriously, for an app without a color wheel, it is really, really easy to figure out, and very non-restrictive. I do wish there was an easier way to save palettes or return to colors without having to make swatches of them, but that’s okay. UI - Easily understandable. I wish it had some of the basic stuff other platforms have (shape snapping or stabilizers, for instance) but the ruler takes care of most of that so honestly I’m not even that upset. Very aesthetically pleasing. Bugs - Here we get to the ONE MAJOR ISSUE I have with this app. It glitches. All. The. Time. It loses lines, changes my background color to red/maroon/black without asking, changes the colors of lines I’ve put down. It was an inconvenience at first, but now it’s just flat-out irritating. If the devs were to fix this, I would absolutely consider dropping the $12/year on it. For now, though, I’ll stick to using the free version.

Great _ potential

Great potential. Awesome app but very poorly optimized glitchy and laggy. Great features and options however a few weak links bring it way down from where it could be

Erase function stopped

misssally63

After I used it for a few minutes it would no longer erase anything.

Can’t open previous drawings

LolaBond

Several, if not most of my favorite drawings have randomly stopped opening. I’ll see the working screen for hours. They never load. It’s frustrating as they only exist in the app and are gone forever.

Aesthetically appealing, functionally limited

KalenEdwards

Very nice looking app, the color and marker selection is awesome. Not a fan of some of the limits to adding documents, pain in the a** to add each page one at a time, and the limit on number pages is also annoying.

Dream come true

I’ve been searching for a drawing program EXACTLY like this for years now. Everything is exactly how I’ve wished drawing programs would be and feels completely natural. I got an iPad hoping to reignite my passion for art but didn’t have much luck because the programs I was using didn’t flow (no pun intended) or feel natural. I felt held back. Switching to Flow has brought everything I loved about art back full-force. It’s easy to use and just feels “right.” For the first time in years I’ve been looking forward to drawing every second of my day- during work all I can think about is how excited I am to draw during break, and after my break, I can hardly wait to get home to keep drawing. Art was such an important thing to me growing up and losing it hit me hard. Flow bringing my enthusiasm back means more to me than I could put into words. **Edit: I originally wrote this saying that I wished layers would be added, but after a few days of usage, I take that back. I’ve quickly adjusted to not using layers (though I will say, I’m used to using 2-3 layers at most, so there wasn’t a huge readjustment I had to go through) and I prefer the program without them. I never noticed before how much layers stall and complicate the process. So, I truly and honestly wouldn’t change anything about Flow. I honestly think it’s the perfect art program.

Ruler Tool

Cory Jackson

This is an amazing app, minus one large issue. The ruler tools are counter-intuitive. Other apps, you simply need to long press to create a straight line or to make a circle. In Flow, I have to select another tool, place my line or circle, then reselect a drawing tool, draw my line, then unselect the ruler. Far too many steps to simply draw a straight line. The ruler tool may have some uses, so I’m not suggesting removing it, but please add simplified abilities to draw straight lines and circles. That would make it a 5-star app for me.
