Most of the time I avoid apps that are for the camera because they seem gimmicky with features it cannot deliver. However, FilmicPro is my favorite app since the App Store started. I just finished shooting a mini documentary with it, a panoramic Moment lens, and an DJI Osmo Gimbal. It looks amazing. There was a steep learning curve but their website has lots of great articles and explanation videos. It really bumped my cinematography skills up and gave me the visual cinematography look that I’ve always strived for. Thank you FilmicPro for making me a filmmaker.

I really like this app, which is why it is supremely disappointing that it tends to glitch out and freeze while recording if you use it for more than 15 minutes. If the developers were able to fix this problem, it would get 5 stars from me. I use this app with an external mic and I really like how you can adjust the gain from within the app. I am a musician, and I’ve made some really nice recordings with it. However over the past few months it is no longer reliable. Please fix the glitching/freezing issue.

Unfortunately, manual mode doesn’t work for OSMO mobile 3. Zoom ring appears on the right side instead , no controls for focus or exposure ( both live analytics are workin though). Please fix this bug. Update: now I know how it should be. Still I think Filmic Pro instruction video on YouTube should annotate that to avoid confusion.

I’m filming something that’s been a big undertaking using my phone. I went to import it and there is NO recorded audio. I’ll update my review if anyone can help, but right now I lost hours of footage for no apparent reason. Don’t bother with this app - not worth the risk.

I’ve tried a bunch of apps to film and this is the one I chose. It’s by far the best and easiest to use. Their support is also very responsive, friendly and incredibly informative. The only in app purchase is for the color profiles. I recommend getting it. All-in-all, the app is cheap, easy to use and just plain awesome! I do have some items I’d like in my wish list for Filmic: 1: Options for Timecode. You only have it’s internal timecode. Cannot synching or jamsync. 2: Anamorphic desqueeze options. The desqueeze doesn’t look correct with the 1.33x setting. It’s not a deal breaker though. You can manually desqueeze in your editing software. You do have the option to desqueeze in just the preview or automatically desqueeze. 3: De Noise option does not work when recording footage at 4K 24fps. I think this should be a priority. 4: The remote app should work on older iPhones and iPads. I’d like to utilize my old devices for basic utilities like remote controlling the Filmic app. Fantastic app though! I love using it!

Stopped working. You press record and it looks like you are recording but does not save video. Lost a birthday recording because of it. It’s shame because overall I did like the app, but I won’t use it again for personal moments.

First off I love this app, it’s fantastic for shooting video, however the major drawback that prevents me from giving it a 5 star ratings is that it overheats the phone. I shoot b-roll on an iPhone 11 and just the other day after 15 mins of filming various clips, my phone was so hot I had to turn it off to cool it down. So overall I highly recommend this app for serious video creators but go in knowing that it could overheat your phone with medium length shoots

The app has only ever been stable with built in device microphones. Hopelessly unstable with sound interfaces and sound sources that are perfectly stable with other apps. App destroys live event video with error messages claiming that it cannot save to camera role after it has been given permission and when there is over 100GB of storage space to spare. So unstable that it takes at least three Apple mobile devices working in parallel to achieve the result we would have gotten from a single major brand digital camera. The app is only suited to very short video clips where multiple takes are possible. It destroys live event projects because it’s too unstable for those, and too easily crashes for numerous reasons, even a mic battery failing or a mic pulling loose. There is never any graceful recovery, it just wrecks the video. Support can’t help with any of these project ruining software design defects. A major rewrite of the software to make it reliable will be needed.
