Fake advertisement

This review is in reference to the multi-cam recording feature. I talked to a friend of mine who works for Filmic Inc. and he told me that the Apple Keynote demo Filmic did was actually fake and just produced on their computers to make it look like it was shot from the iPhone 11 Pro (multi-cam recording). This is why they still don’t have an actual update to it since it was just an idea at the time of the release. They have done nothing but lied to the public about this feature. I got so annoyed when he told me about it because it just shows that companies really don’t care to be honest to their buyers. They would rather deceive you and take your money before being honest and announcing this feature is something they would LIKE TO create instead of saying it has been created, but being tweaked. Save your money if this feature is what you are looking for. Don’t give them a dime till they can actually produce a product they advertise.

Multi cam feature

Luke Petrinec

So I bought my 11 pro after seeing the multi-cam feature in the key note presentation. Then I bought this app to find that the feature wouldn’t be available until later in the year. Well here we are in a new year 2020. Pitter patter lets get at’r. Release it already.

Regret purchasing

busyscott

I purchased this app after the demo at the Apple Keynote showed you could record all three lenses at the same time on the new iPhone. Months later and still no update. Probably will have the next iPhone before their update ships...if it ever does. I wish I had waited before giving them money.

No Osmo Mobile 3 support or multi cam

canyonrunner

So far the app is ok but they need to add support for the Osmo Mobile 3 which has been out for 5 months now and they still haven’t added multi cam, on top of that after opening the app for the first time I found out I have to spend another $14 to unlock the whole app! I recommend waiting to buy this app until they figure things out

Look No Further...

This is it! If you’re looking for an app that does it all you’ve found it. I know the price kinda makes you iffy but I just thought I’d chance it and hope that Apple would refund me in case I wasn’t happy. Well, after about 10 minutes into learning this thing, I’M STAYING RIGHT HERE! This app was designed from user experience. Easy menu to get in & out of. I like how they can make sophisticated settings seem so simply organized in the menus. There are options to just save your video within the app or you can turn on a switch that puts them in your phone gallery as you record just like the native app does.(iPhone 8 anyhow). If you happen to have a few gigs of storage you can make a lot of very smooth, very high def video in your own gallery. My favorite features are the exposure, zoom and focus controls that you can optionally put on screen. This way you can set & lock them or very easily adjust them as you record! If you have shaky hands, it has a stabilization setting so the video doesn’t shake nearly as much especially when you’re really zoomed in. I also love the optional grids you can put up to help with guys like me who can’t always hold the phone centered, straight and level. In a wrap, the price is well worth the quality and work that went into this app! Some of the complaints I see from other reviewers are either old or fake; or they have yet to discover their abilities because I’ve had no problems so far. Every time I use their website or just google up a question about a setting on the app, I discover another cool tool to use. There are still LOTS more settings in here that I’ll never use but if you’re a more serious videographer than I, then all those other detailed settings must be for you. If you’re the kind of person who spends $15 too much at Walmart or the restaurant anyway, then this will be one place it’ll be well spent. UPDATE 1/2/20: Thanks Mr. Developer, I will most certainly reach out if I need anything or have an idea. :-) UPDATE: 1/13/20 This app is awesome. I’m never going back to the native app except for basic pics. SUGGESTED IDEA... I would love to see a switch for an option to turn on autofocus indefinitely in all displays, including the arc control display. That way we can automate zoom and manually control the iso without worrying about the focus. That’s an option I’d pay a few bucks for. Going to purchase the RGB kit soon!

Don't advertise a feature unless you're sure it's ready

While I realize Filmic, like all software development companies, needs to have a certain amount of "hoopla" and angst surrounding their product, the amount of time that has passed since the Keynote and today (17 January 2020) is verging in the border of ridiculous and even, possibly, false advertising. It appears as though the instant success of Filmic following their feature at the 2019 Apple Keynote has resulted in increasing arrogance by the company as well as surfacing questions as to whether the multiple, simultaneous recording of 2 very high resolution streams, will ever become part of the mainline, prod release. The difficulty with such a feature is easy to recognize, even among lay people, but to this development team the Problem should have been immediately apparent. Even if they were not, the fact that we keep getting the exact copy and paste notice about the "…features demonstrated at the Keynote event…" is a slap in the face of those who placed their trust in Filmic. At the very least, let us know what the problem is and, truthfully, how long it's going to take to implement it. If there is even a remote possibility of this promised feature not making it to release, be up front about that also. Leaving your customers hanging is not only rude and disrespectful, it is putting a significant mark on Filmic that will be difficult, if not impossible, to fully recover from. Finally I will say, this is a brilliantly designed and extremely stable application. The quality of the recordings are remarkable and, overall, performance is great. The "editor" leaves a lot to be desired and seems as though it is in an alpha or beta release — it is very raw and unfinished. Even slow seeking is not possible (e.g. by touching and dragging upward from the timeline handle). I hope my pessimism is disproved, I'll be happy to eat my words. Until the fulfillment of promises made, what would be a 5 star app (even without the multicam recording feature) will remain 1 star.

iPhone 11, dissapointing

Tony Quill

With the new phone, the analytic tray is now gone, a major selling point of Filmic Pro. I’m tired of this app breaking every update and causing more issues. Heartbreaking as it’s one of my favorite apps. Looking for alternatives now.

Can’t use flat or log in 120 FPS

Copperangel1

I bought this app for the flat and log features only to find out that I can’t even use them when filming in 120 or higher. Which I always do. They don’t tell you this before charging you for the add on of course. You only find out after you pay. Super disappointing and a total waste of $30. Yep 30 because you can’t even get flat or log to begin with without an additional in app purchase. They got me and now I have useless app. Don’t buy this.

A must have for any cinematography or videography

Joshcoby

I’ve been using this app for years now and I gotta say it’s come a long way! I love the fact that you can interface with the controls with the DJI OSMO Mobile 2 I hope to see that multi-cam recording update soon that would be awesome especially if you can still manipulate ISO,WB,FOCUS on multiple cameras.

Smooth 4 Not Pairing

walltall

Cool features, but the smooth 4 connection has stopped working, which is the reason I got both things. Would love to know what’s up...
