Editorial is a serious application that has outstanding multiple capacities from simple text editing to Python programming. It is almost the Emacs of iPhones. It's modal interface takes some getting used to. Expect to spend a few hours before going into the field to take notes. You will be rewarded by this well thought out and professional level application.

So I'm not sure what the 1-star guy right before me was talking about. All the features he complained about not working, like getting back to the doc menu, work fine for me, and I've never experienced any of the bugs he cited. This app is a great idea, and is implemented quite well too. If you're a fan of TaskPaper like me, or just need to edit some code, you'll love it. Still, I'm bummed by the lack of iPhone X screen support and the general pace of updates. I'd also like to have iOS 11 Files app integration, so I don't have to go through Dropbox or the share sheet to get files into the app. Fix the iPhone X screen thing, and I'll revise my rating to 5 stars.

Great app. Well worth the price. Easy to implement the taskpaper syntax.

This app has basically no downsides. It's basically *the* editor for text that doesn't need a built-in outline. My only complaint is that there aren't enough keyboard shortcuts for it on the iPad. Buy this app if you write text and can afford it.

Such an expensive and capable app but if you're using this or plan on using this on iPad Pro don't waste your money. The app is about 2 years behind on any meaningful updates and the developer doesn't seem to care.
Ice Pop Studio
This is perhaps the most powerful text editing client on iPad. Scripting of workflows and the advanced options are extremely useful. That said, the lack of updates for new, key features really holds this back. No split view (hugh bummer for productivity), no smart keyboard support, no support for deep searching from spotlight, no support for siri, etc. An update to 2016 could easily make this one of the most advanced apps for this purpose, but as of now, be careful.

I haven't found anything else that works as well with my org-mode workflow, even the org-mode app

A year ago this was a great app. It has many features that aren't offered by other apps. The TaskPaper-OmniFocus workflow is one example. But as time between updates gets greater, I feel trapped in an aging app. There aren't any 3D Touch gestures. There isn't iCloud integration (that I've found). A neat feature would be iMessage Stickers, a fantastic feature I've seen in other markdown writing apps. Finally different aspects of the UI are starting to feel dated. I want to like and love this app. But I need more hope of support.
