Folding Headers

IveTriedEmAll

As far as I know, this is the only app in the App Store that supports folding headers. “What’s that?”, you ask. It means if you use a # Symbol to start a line, you can then tap the symbol to fold the section headed by that line. It essentially turns the app into an outliner. Super powerful. And that’s just one of many impressive features. This is my go to Dropbox editor.

Awesome Tool for taskpaper

llamaswill

Holy cow this editor is amzing. I am using it for taskpaper and it just works. I can see it replacing a host of other tools I use. I would love an OS X version. My original 2 star review was about lack of iCloud support - still annoyed but dropboxed instead. Have to say, the better tracking of files and deletions in Dropbox is worth the hassle.

Best text editor

LLMMD

I edit thousands of words of text each week in my work. Editorial is my go-to app because of its combination of power and simplicity. TO THE DEVELOPER: *Please* update ASAP to take advantage of new iOS 9 features like Slide Over and Split View.

Fountain App I've Been Searching For? Almost

Rich Camp

I have been loving writing in fountain because I wanted the simplest workflow. This app is exactly what I want to write on my iPad. The ONLY thing that I wish it had was iCloud sync. Especially with the iCloud app on ios9. I would love to be able to open files on my iCloud Drive and save that file in its original location. I would give this 5 stars if it had that feature. I hope its added soon. Otherwise I'm stuck in saving locally only as I don't use dropbox =(

One of my 'must have' iOS apps

MyGeekDaddy

Editorial is my default editor/word processor on iOS. Everything I do now is in Markdown, so this has become my go to app for all my writing. The integration to Dropbox is great because I can choose the folder where Editorial syncs from. A lot of other MD editors force you to use their default folder only. Editorial uses all the standard keyboard shortcuts on my BT keyboard - Cmd-C, Cmd-P, Cmd-X, etc. On top of the great UI to focus on writing, the ability to use workflows and Python to automate actions I need to take while writing is amazing. Write in Markdown, covert the document to HTML, and SFTP up to a site. I'd like to see Pages or Word do that. One of my 'must have' apps on iOS. Hey Ole - Time to port this to OS X! ;-)

Must have

Konstantin A. Kolosov

From the developer of Pythonista. That was the reason for me buy this app. It turned out to be the most useful feature of my phone. With x-callback-urls from Launch Center Pro (now displayed in Today view in Notification Center) linked to workflows in Editorial I can log anything anytime in no time! Editorial also supports x-callback, it can start other apps as well. It has Python interpreter built-in, with console & UI module written specially for iOS console, and the offline documentation. You can save files as plain text, or with Markdown formatting - Editorial has sort of syntax highlighting and HTML preview. It supports TaskPaper and Fountain, both of which I found out about thanks to this app. Text editing is simplified with top row of special symbols, swiping on which moves the cursor. Dropbox sync ensures that you always have the latest version of every file and a copy of it is stored safely in the cloud. Or you can use your local storage only. The developer is very friendly and helpful, - when I had a question he responded within hours. He is definitely not greedy - the app is universal for both iPhone and iPad. In the years of using his apps none of them ever crashed or lost its data. Highly recommended.

Exemplary app

spyyddir

This is one of those apps that defines the platform. It has incredible attention to detail, as well as being immensely powerful. If you use markdown at all in your workflow you should definitely buy it.

Perfect. Beautiful utility.

Stringbean42

Does exactly what I need it to and does it well. Highly recommend for text and markdown editing of any and all of my Dropbox files. Superb.

Really great!!!

zeroin123

I use it to take notes at work. Markdown is much faster than messing with standard formatting options.

Nearly perfect

I love this app. Great for Markdown writing in general and technical writing in particular, and the only such app on the store which I enjoy as much as Byword—which it does a lot more than (but both are delightful apps). The only things I wish this app did which it doesn't are: use Python 3 instead of 2, and support GitHub-flavored Markdown code blocks (which I use extensively in my technical writing). Given the long lost of things this app does, and how well it does them, those are small beans in the grand scheme of this app. It's worth every penny.
