Doesn’t use ATV skip forward/back feature

The Sidewinder Three-Thousand

This app needs two things: 1. Utilize the Apple TV feature where you click the side of the remote trackpad to skip forward/backward 2. Utilize the ATV feature where you can pause the video and then move your thumb on the remote trackpad to scrub forward/backward and get a scrub preview box over the cursor Fix these two things and I’d give it 5 stars.

Huge lag time since october 2018

Pontificator of Fate

There is about a 30 second lag time before anything will start playing on all IOS devices since iOS 12.1 in October 2018. 5 months later still no fix by the developers. Was a 5 star app prior to this.

Long delay before starting/iPad 11 support

WSTGA8

It takes a long time to start playing anything now. It wasn’t like that before. It was much faster at starting the stream. No iPad Pro 11 support so far.

Needs Updating

Good app, but needs updating. Not scaled correctly to take advantage of larger iPhone XS Max screen.

One of my top 5 most used apps. No fatal complaints

DS Video has a neat way of fast-forwarding and rewinding in videos, this is how all video-playing apps should do it. I wish YouTube and Safari could do it. You just drag your finger across the screen, anywhere. Left or right and it will skip for however many seconds depending on how far you drag your finger. I CAN’T STRESS HOW INTUITIVE THIS IS. I can’t go back to those Safari 15-second bump clicks after this. If you want to skip forward a huge chunk, you give it a nice big drag. Go back to hear that little line you just missed? Small drag. And the app shows you how many seconds you’re dragging, so you can control it easily. My only gripe is similar to what others have said about mkv files. It can’t play certain files (at least mine can’t) like .mkv and I think .wmv. For those of us who have those files we’re forced to either watch them in DS File or download them and watch them in VLC. All in all, I’d say get it for the interface but keep pressing for the increased codec support.

Please update the app to adopt new display ratio of iPad Pro 10.5!

Still not functional

App-review69

This is not a bad app, when it works. That said, there is still a critical flaw when used in conjunction with some synology products. In my case, the DS218PLAY. The issue is that any video transcoded by the NAS and downloaded to the app in iOS is unplayable, displaying only solid green video. This has been verified after lengthy exchanges and testing by Synology tech support, with remote access to unit. They are aware of the issue but their recommendation was to use VLC the player instead. Not really an acceptable response from a company that posts the ability to transcode and download video to your device as a key feature. Please fix.

Where speed control?

maximser

Recently playback speed control was added to web version of ds video, so I wait for this feature in iOS app.

Does not play my purchased videos.

gjmuir

I have several purchased digital copies of videos, none of which play on this app. Home movies play fine if on the correct format. I have made sure all the movies are the same format but the digital copies still do not work. They just act like they are buffering and don’t ever play.
