If use VLC player, when play the video. The connect is fast and playing and sound quality is better on Apple TV. Other wise I have suggested its subtitles, somehow the subtitles search function is not work. You can try use VLC players on Apple TV on the same move. Use search Chinese subtitles.

Used to use DS Video for streaming video workloads off of Synology NAS. Since an update a few months back, streaming has stopped working. It seems like you need to copy the whole video into the app before it plays the video. Use another video playing app that supports SMB. May even consider a different NAS provider for my next NAS.
No way to select audio track

I watch anime and it’s impossible to select which audio track I want to hear (English or Japanese) inside of this app. Plenty of subtitle configurability but nothing for audio.

You just broke the ability to download movies from my NAS to my iPhone. iOS 12.4 and DS Video 3.4.2-348. Fix it now please.
Great except for the last update

This app worked great for me until the last update. Now, when watching videos on my iPad, while on the same network as the NAS itself, it opens up DS File and plays them through that app. On top of that, 99% of the time, it opens the video 1 second before the end, plays that 1 second, then returns me to DS Video. So I have to tap on the video progress bar within that one second to scrub to a different location and can have more time to get to the beginning. Synology, please fix huge and pointless annoyance immediately.
Do not upgrade to 3.4.2!

I have used this app for years and it has worked well...but since the last update, none of our iDevices can play any of the titles on our Synology NAS. PLEASE FIX THIS VERSION.
Great before the last update

The last update has been frustrating. I used to download videos onto my phone, simply, without any issues. Now I’m forced to transcode it to a high low or medium version. I don’t want to transcode it. I don’t want to wait for the transcoding and I don’t want a duplicate, I just want the video in its original state. And why would anyone want to choose “high” when it makes the file size bigger than the original??
Latest update broke downloads

The latest update only plays videos though DS file (or another player, if installed) and no longer allows downloads for offline watching of MP4s, claiming “No playable videos for download. You can only downloads videos H264, MPEG-4 video codec and non-Hi10 Profile, AAC-LC audio codec, and non-AAC soundtrack for offline viewing.”

Used to work great, now I can no longer download video to iPad. I get message “No playable videos for download...”. I can only play video that was downloaded before the update. Works great otherwise.
