Location services required for notifications?

To enable any notifications you have to have location services enabled. Why not provide an option to manually input a zip code for notifications?
Great interface, not so great at weather prediction

I love the look and feel of this app. However, time and time again, the predictions are wrong. This is the 4th time recently that other people said it was going to snow, Dark Sky said it wasn’t, and then it snowed. Sometimes it says zero chance of rain, while it’s raining. So I think it’s time to find a weather app that does a better job with the weather.

It was a Saturday afternoon enjoying a burger at the local drive-in. My brother took me there in the ‘66 Camaro he’d just built. A dozen classics and hot rods roared to life and left. I tossed a puzzled look to my brother as he led our departure. “They got a Dark Sky notification,” he said, “don’t want to get their precious paint jobs wet.” We got home just in time to garage the car before the rain hit. By the time I landed back at LAX, I’d already installed Dark Sky on my iPhone. 4 years later, it is still my primary weather app, bringing me the weather I need, with an accuracy I want, for my exact location.
Not very good

Got this app because my wife swears by it. It’s no better than any other weather app. Two hours ago it predicted snow would end in 50 minutes. Still snowing. Current forecast states “no precipitation “ it’s still snowing. Can I have my money back!?!
Dark sky does not work for me

The display on the watch face is wildly inaccurate. In depth weather reports are often unavailable, and, when they are, don’t jibe with the report on the watch face. Emails to the developer requesting help were not answered. This app was a waste of $4.99.
Not as accurate anymore

Dark sky used to be my go to for accurate weather lately it hasn’t been as accurate. Today’s weather for cast predicted 1-2” of snow.. we got 7”.. it’s currently telling me it’s cloudy with a chance of snow.. it’s blue skies and sun.. it’s not just today it’s been Ione this for a while now sadly.
Constantly asks you to enable notifications

If you don’t want notifications you have to click a obstructive banner every single time you use the app saying no, disable notifications instead. It is deeply annoying. I have used this app for years but now I am done.

Weather information in watch complications lagged what was shown on the phone app and website. Different watch complications showed different weather conditions.
You are your own weatherman

This app is so accurate, it literally can predict foul weather to within minutes. I’ve been sitting on my deck and got an alert for “rain starting in 5 minutes”, and had time to pick up my belongings and get inside right before it started to rain. With this app you are your own weatherman. Can’t say enough good things about this app. It’s worth the $10 bucks.
