I want to upload pictures from my phone photos library, which I read is possible with Oggl. It says available from the App Store but a search says it’s not there. Suggestions?

Terrible customer service

I have had this app for 9 years and been through all their changes. Now, 9 years of photos are gone and nobody cares enough to return my correspondence and help me.

?Still crazy after all these years?

When I first downloaded Hipstamatic way back in prehistoric times, nothing else like it existed. I would even make the argument that this is still true. When Instagram showed up on the App Store I thought, seriously? Who would want to take photos you can only share with other people with fewer options and ridiculously inferior quality? Turns out. I guessed the same thing with YouTube when it launched so hey, if you ever wanted to invest in a startup just don’t take my word for it. Anyway. Hipstamatic hasn’t changed much over the years, and that has been one of its greatest assets. The boutique experience it provides (hipster, say) is seriously worth experiencing. It was my personal introduction to lomography, which eventually lead me to taking, developing, and printing my own physical photos. I feel like this review is long overdue, especially because the quality and support is so consistent to this day. If you’re at all on the fence, just give it a shot. If you’re sick of only curating your life for social media, or even if you do want vastly superior shots for it, Hipstamatic has unparalleled freedom and is the way to go.

Crashes opening pics. Doesn’t remember settings. Used to be easy.

Bye bye Hipstamatic, you’ll be missed...

This sad day has been many years in the making, but I finally had to remove my beloved Hipstamatic from my iPhone. I have been a Hipsta devotee since day one, so much so it’s the only reason I’m still on an iPhone. It has been my singular stylized iPhone shooting and editing app since the first time I used it, and I suffered through all the issues over the years (they never really conquered iCloud syncing of edits, did they?). But since approx v3 it’s just become so unstable to a point that it was ruining shoots. The issues started about a year ago, when Hipsta started killing my battery routinely taking my phone from 30% to a hard dead in seconds. On one shoot on the Highline in NYC Hipsta killed the phone so badly I had to take into an Apple store to get it restarted. Now with the latest version it’s completely dead, crashing on every start, displaying the lens on the case off-center, quitting but still running in the background, and still with the battery issues. It’s a sad day indeed, but if you can’t rely on your photo software then it’s time for the software to go. It was a good run, old friend...?

Where did the option go?

I have a newer iPad and the option for selfies is Nowhere to be found why?

Doesn’t work anymore

I don’t think they’ve discontinued support for this app, since they’re still releasing products and updates, but this app has become a train wreck. Crashes CONSTANTLY and cannot be relied upon. It makes me really sad, as I used to delight in this app, and there’s nothing to replace it— it’s unique.

Fantastic app but crashes too much

lake fiend

I have loved this app since I bought it 3 years ago especially since it started supporting RAW photos but recently it has started to crash and close out 9 out of 10 times I open it to try and take a picture. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason behind it, the screen just goes black and takes me back to my iPhone home screen. I have tried restarting my phone but doesn’t really eliminate the problem. Not sure if it’s the app or the phone or the os. I have a brand new iPhone 8, and it’s really frustrating that this keeps happening, it ruins being able to capture certain moments. Hopefully there is an update or fix coming soon.
