Bloody April focuses on the Battle of Shiloh which was fought from 6th to 7th April 1862. The Union Army of the Tennessee, under Major General Ulysses S. Grant, was encamped at Pittsburg Landing, on the West Bank of the Tennessee River. The Confederate Army of the Mississippi, commanded by General Albert S. Johnston, launched a surprise attack on the morning of 6th April. Unprepared for battle, the Union forces suffered heavy casualties in the first hours of the fighting but held their position at Pittsburg Landing. Bloody April

I have now played over 30 battles for the whole game and for both sides. The game is fantastic in every way and I recommend it for the serious war gamers. However, the optional scenarios do not work. The pickets never get alerted even when adjacent to the enemy. Also, the union never gets alerted even in the no surprise scenario. Any fixes in sight for my money???

Awful

I was eagerly anticipating this release. Unfortunately it is terrible. Boring, unnecessarily time consuming, and a waste of promise.

The slowest
Milcomm1267

Have had the game now for a week and it has great graphics but it is the slowest game I have ever played or should say tried to play. On the first enemy turn alone almost four minutes just waiting for the next turn. There must be a way to speed this up, as of now slow is boring!

I don't know what happened to this game compared to all the others. I think they released it too early. It's a slower moving game and it has little 'z's which I assume means that they're asleep, but it's a long wait each time while the other side moves.

Not like the others
Frustrate me

I have had this game for a week. I really enjoy all the other hexwar civil war series. I must say however that this has been a disappointment. I wish there had been other reviews when I bought it because, in full agreement with the previous reviewers, this game is slow. Extremely slow. And to date, I have been unable to move any of my units within the first two turns. My experience so far has been very disappointing and this is the first time hexwar has let me down. I have been playing on my iPhone. Perhaps it will work better on the iPad as the campaign boards are very large. All in all, frustrating so far.

Horrible
Steve&1

I have played all the previous Civil War games, however, they should be ashamed to have even released this, it's absolutely Horrible, do not purchase.

Slow and not working right.
Lggggffftrk

Although unacceptably slow, it's playable from the confederate side. When playing on the union side I was never able to waken any of the encamped, sleeping troops even after moving the pickets next to the generals??? Potentially a good game but probably released too soon without adequate testing. If not quickly upgraded to make game playable there should be a refund. Very disappointed.

Unplayable
Edd34//:45

Horrible slow and unrealistic. A poor effort

Way too slow
Chipshot3

I expected this app to play at a reasonable speed, much like the other Civil War games. No such luck. It takes far too long for the game to make the moves the computer wants during the opponent's move. A five or six minute move is not proper or wanted move time for a game like this. Frustrating. I know they can do better.

Disappointing

First time HexWar let me down, this one really tanked it for me. I loved the detail and overall concept but something is amiss with this one, like playability and the desire to ever want to play it again. It sucked because of the wait time involved between turns, and that the strategical expectations are unrealistic and seemingly unattainable for this game. I played it s number of times, the grand game and the one where the Federals lose the initial shock restrictions, and was never able to meet the criteria to play the length of the battle. Very frustrating and a total letdown as this is one of the most interesting Anerican Civil WR battles ever. The only thing that could possibly save Bloody April is an open ended scenario that would let the gamer play through both days of battle without shutting it down way too early. This is a game, not reality, let the generals have some leeway and fun.
