Works As Advertised

I am a precious user of Apple Mail. I saw a review of Canary online somewhere and it sounded intriguing so I decided to check it out. I'm now a Pro user. I think I'd rather pay $2.99 or something a year forever vs $20 up front to continue to support the developers, but maybe they have something in place to keep revenue coming in and I just haven't discovered it yet?

My kind of Mail App

K3vinT

The app isn’t perfect. It seems as though there are still lots of features they plan to implement, but depending on your priorities, this could be a great choice. What I live about the app: 1. Read Receipts - this keeps me in the know and helps with anxiety 2. Email Encryption - this wasn’t the easiest to set up and I hope it will become more user-friendly, but with all the cyber attacks and hackers out there, I get peace of mind being able to send sensitive information to my wife knowing my mail is secure 3. I like that I can easily pin my mail and it shows up at the top along with a bunch of other swipe options 4. My favorite part is that it is a one time payment!!! Read receipt features are usually a monthly charge and this works just as well for me. I would never go for a monthly charge again. Things I think could be better: 1. The design could be a bit more modernized. As I said, it looks like they have plans in the work. 2. Add folder rules so that mail can automatically be moved out of the inbox and stored in a folder based on rules 3. An additional type of encryption where both parties don’t need a key, rather just a password when sending one way. 4. Swipe left in the mail message to go to the next mail message in the inbox. I don’t usually review apps, but I want this to succeed. There’s a lot of potential here. It’s already an awesome app.

Love Canary Mail

I have been using Canary Mail for a long time on my Mac Desktop. I installed it today on my iPad and iPhone. I just wish there was an option for the iPad and iPhone versions to delete emails forever. I use this frequently on my desktop version to permanently remove selected junk mails.

Most secure and easiest reading email client

HyeJung

Actual Apple Watch app for replying to emails from the Watch! Clear, contrasty easy to read in-box, with color-coding to quickly see which account emails are from. Built-in PGP encryption on top of whatever SSL layer your service provides. Modest price no monthly fee!!

Only missing HTML sigs!

frimport

I have been a huge fan of Polymail for years, for its ability to track emails and its simplicity. Much superior in terms of features to the native iOS and Mack OS mail app. However, Canary solves the biggest gripe I’ve had with Polymail, the search! Very slow and unreliable on Polymail, it is perfect on this app. Enough for me to switch! The only thing missing from me is the ability to insert HTML signatures in the iOS version. But close to perfect!

Doesn’t Work On Apple Watch

jcherepy

I tried everything. Rebooted devices, deleted and added accounts, etc, but all I get on my watch is a screen that says accounts and when I tap or long press, nothing happens. I’m just glad I didn’t pay for it. Edit: After trying again and again I finally have it working on my Watch. So far, I really like the presentation on the Watch. Still putting it through it's paces. Only reason not five stars is for initial problem.

It’s OK, but not the best

BrandonBlock

Overall the app is OK, but for $20.00 I would expect more. When you reply to an email it doesn’t show in the inbox that it has been replied to unless it was done within Canary. This shouldn’t be the case. The calendar doesn’t sync with my Outlook calendar. Also, when viewing the inbox, it shows the senders name and all the included participants. I don’t care who else was included in the email, I only need to see who sent it. I would like a refund, but cannot figure out how to ask for that.

Great email client but needs updated much more often, really shouldn’t have as many bugs at this point in the release.

Great App

Canary is in many ways what the iOS email client should be. The only issue is that its PGP keychain management is clunky; among other things, there should be a setting to save incoming public keys to contacts. If that were improved, I’d gladly give it five stars.
