Essential. Consummate writer’s app

fjpoblam

I write my blog posts in ByWord then export the HTML to Wordpress. ByWord’s export is fully peaceful and non-distracting. Bonus: it’s *faster* than all the rest. Including various apps for notes. Which leads me to think it might be a good notes app as well. Peaceful writing is productive writing. That’s what it’s all about. Get ByWord.

Great App!

jmcass

Byword has everything I need to write without the annoying bells and whistles that finally drove me from Word, which is clearly designed for secretaries (at least I hope it is designed for someone) not writers.

Only practical for Markdown users

clarkeleland

Been using the Desktop version for several months now. Really enjoyed writing Rich text based documents on my computer with this app. When I finally bit the bullet and purchased the iOS Version, I unfortunately discovered after the purchase that the iOS version does not support Rich text. That detail was at the very bottom of the description and to be fair I made an assumption that the iOS version of the app would work the same as the desktop version. I can’t understand why rich text is not supported, and if I had known (I guess it’s my bad for not reading every single bit of description all the way to the very bottom) that I would be unable to sync those types of documents across devices, I would’ve gone with a different platform. Please Byword, if you’re reading this just add rich text support already, you’ll make your user base much happier and then we don’t have to write dumb reviews like this one...

Good, but would like better Google Drive support

WB-Dallas

Overall, ByWord is a strong editor for developing blog entries and other short content. I am giving five stars, but I would like to see support (or better support) for using multiple Google Drive accounts. This makes sense, since many users have a dedicated GMail account for each blog (or family of blogs). And if you already have this, please make it easier to find. I have my eye on Boxcryptor and other similar encrypted cloud tools, so I hope you grow your support for that as those tools mature and become more widely adopted. Cloud services tied to email (GMail/Drive, Outlook, GMX, Yandex....) seem like a good idea in general. And thanks for keeping RTF and HTML. I know most of your users are using Markdown, but I am one of those old timers who tried Markdown and like the older tools better. If you would grant another wish, add "publishing" to OneNote as well as Evernote.

The best markdown tool available

Matthew Temple @clownfysh

Most of the features I want: the ability to write book-length texts in one document (others fail at about 10,000 words per document). Reasonable markdown preview. Save across the cloud. Low price. Cool.

Horrible support for common character encodings

amlynch

This app is actually quite pleasant to use if you happen to be using its preferred character encoding (which is, I believe, UTF-8). But since this is an app that uses iCloud Drive, it's natural to imagine that you could use it to open files not created by this app, but that invariably leads to a crash. Hey, Byword team, may I suggest +[NSString stringWithContentsOfFile:usedEncoding:error:]?

Love it, and I love writing in Markdown

Blogwriter

My only complaint is that there isn’t a typewriter mode like there is on the Mac App. It’s not something I’d deduct a star for, but I surely would like that feature. *hint, hint* If you’re listening, folks at Byword..

Does not support iOS 11 FileProvider API

enter.another

I was hoping that I could use folders other than Dropbox to sync with other systems, but this iOS feature is not supported. Will start using this purchased app (and edit review) once it works with Resilio Sync.

THE writing app. Always used. Essential for *writers*

fjpoblam

I write my blog posts in ByWord then export the HTML to Textastic and (after a little fiddling) copy and paste to WordPress. ByWord’s export is superb. Having seen that it is, I may comfortably write I distracted in ByWord, fully assured the result will export as presentable HTML. This contributes to very peaceful writing. Peaceful writing is productive writing. That’s what it’s all about. Get ByWord.

Solid Text Editor

TheeeGooch

This is a great tool for blogging and journaling. The app is simple, supports markdown, has preview , and supports textpad snippets. It also has flexible export options for sharing with a variety of other apps The solid cloud sync support lets you access your notes from any ios device. I like how it doesn't feel bloated at all with a minimalist interface.
