Changed my workflow

Wandering-writer

I've been using Byword for a few years now, and it's simplicity and functionality has changed the way I work. On both my phone and my computer, I use Byword to write just about anything, from notes to blog posts, from short stories to novels. It is simple, yet powerful with a clean interface that doesn't get in the way, but great tools when I need them. Saving in plain txt files makes syncing and reading between all my devices simple. Markdown ensures my formatting remains no matter where I open it. Byword is highly recommended.

Awesome update

Love it!

Needs iOS 9 update.

Used to be a good app. Needs an update--Dropbox synch, which is essential, isn't reliable.

Does what it promises

This seems to be the only app remaining in the Store that lets me sync notes via iTunes Sync (local USB sync), provides basic features like full-text search and global font settings, and is still actively maintained. Thank you, developer!

Unable to synch with Dropbox.

Used this app some years ago on my Mac and liked it. Acquired an iPad Mini a few months ago, installed byword and set up Dropbox synch but although byword appears in Dropbox none of the docs i composed are there---zero. This app is worthless to me if it will not synch with Dropbox. Did not have this issue with 1Writer.

Various issues

I'd like to create a new document and have it directly saved on a storage provider. I can only see how to edit existing documents from a storage provider, or how to create a new local document that I cannot then easily move. Also. Storage and document provider storage is nice. But I would prefer direct integration of other services that works as well as Dropbox and iCloud Drive.

I use this app and Byword for the Mac, synchronizing with iCloud. They help me retain ideas for stories and poems, scraps of things I want to tinker at later at the computer, etc. This could not be a better setup for me. I was a longtime MS Word user, and I liked it well enough, but this is so much more efficient. I love having all my stuff at my fingertips wherever I am. I also love the simplicity of these apps. They really do get out the way and let you write. I don't use Markdown much, but am getting more familiar with it. So I can't really speak to Byword's implementation of John Gruber's brilliant markup language. So far everything seems to work well in that category. For me, this is it. I am deeply grateful for this family of apps and use them daily. Devs, if you read these reviews, thank you.

What happened to my document

I have had several lost documents over the past few weeks. Not sure if it's a recent release that has broken thing, if I am doing something wrong, or if this is just the behavior of the app as I am using it more. I have written a long post in ByWord only to discover that it didn't save to iCloud. Coming back to the ByWord app I only see a portion of my document with most of it just gone. This has happened to me several times and I am not sure how to prevent it from happening again. Having been burned I probably won't continue to use this app, which is a shame because it has most of the features I need.

Continued disappointment with technical support

I still can't get help with my problems. I enjoyed using this program since 2012. But upgrades have made it unusable on my iMac, and I cannot get synchronization through iCloud between devices. Very very sad. Meta classy, please help. I have sent multiple messages over the space of more than 2 weeks.

Pretty great

The basics of this application are pretty great and it is a great markdown editor. I wish it had better support for document providers though.
