I bought the premium service for the app after trying it for a bit. The UI has some annoying aspects, but the overall value seemed solid. Since then I have "lost by disconnection" in over half my matches even though my connection has been solid on other devices. I would return it if I could.

Stuck dice

Several times the dice get stuck when my opponents turn then after I restart the game they have deducted money from my total. Garbage!!!
Like the app but......

Lately I have been disconnected through no fault of mine (my internet connection and speed are fine) but the app disconnects me somehow. Also, I HATE playing the computer (ape) when I want to play a person; would like to see an option to abort the game without it counting as a loss. Finally, there are some timing issues, like what's with the three minute timer resetting so it never counts down? This can turn a three minute game into as many as five! Also, when the turn timer counts down to zero there is a lag between zero and game over but this sure never happens against the ape. Regardless, I love the game and will continue to use this app. It's the best backgammon app out there by far!

This app used to be good actually, used to be super fun but recent changes have made it the worst kind of bad. It used to set up where you bought some in-game credit, then played against other people for those credits, wagering fixed amounts. It worked. That and the rating system they use made the games meaningful, better players were rewarded by not having to spend more money to play, weaker players having to pay to get more chips, which made the creators some money which is necessary for an app to exist. But then they decided to change their app to a subscription service. Now, you can play only 6 games a day, or pay like $10-$20 a month to play unlimited. The effect this has had on the game is dramatically negative. For one, now not only do you have to pay a fixed amount each month, if you run out of in game money, they expect you to pay for more credits on top of the subscription you're already paying for. In addition, most people are just playing their six games per day, so when faced with a double, they almost never decline because why would you, you can only play 6 games a day, might as well make the most of it. And that makes the games unrealistic and takes away from the fun. Also, the amount of players on using the app have dramatically decreased making the time to queue for a game take much longer. The effects of going to subscription have completely ruined the app. But that isn't the worst part of the recent update. Not by far. The worst part is whatever adjustments they've made to their connection. If you disconnect for any reason, you lose the current game you're playing, and if the cube has been doubled, your opponent will receive credit for a backgammon, regardless of the status of the game. So you will have someone crushed, but lose service for just a split second, the game will result in a loss, take massive amounts of in game credit that you paid for, and then immediately reconnect. Which wouldn't be that bad for people with strong connections. Except that this last update, you'll disconnect constantly for no reason. There's a major problem with the software because this app is the only one I lose connection to, and it happens constantly. AND to top all of this off, when you contact their customer service, it's obvious they hardly speak English by their email responses, and is always the same, something along the lines of sorry about your connection issues, we are constantly trying to improve our software, but we don't reimburse people back in game credits because we can't verify that they didn't disconnect on purpose'. Disconnect on purpose? Doesn't even make sense. I strongly advise anyone browsing the App Store for a backgammon to select an app other than this one.

This game was great, I played it all the time. It allowed you to buy chips to play and each game you won would award you more chips. You could play as long as you won or bought more chips. Now no matter how many chips you have, you can only play 6 games per day, unless you pay a monthly fee for unlimited game play. I end up playing bots more than actual people, I am guessing because not many are paying for unlimited play. I will be deleting this game, when I find a replacement.

Ruined a good app!

This was the best app. I was addicted and enjoyed playing game after game. The new version had connection issues that drop you. Used to play many player, now just the bots, and they disconnect you and make you lose against them when you are doing well. I was willing to buy chips every month to play but now that my chips get stolen by the game not work well anymore, I am done. Don't get this app, it's a waste of time, and not in the good way!
