Ace Backgammon

I enjoy the opportunity to play against real opponents, however, have no understanding why the game will disconnect when playing the doubling cube and waiting for a reply from the opponent. It is almost better to forgo doubling rather than lose to a glitch in the system.

Don’t waste your hard earned money... and time

Heroz are scam artist. Asked for my $49.95 back... they won’t do it. Live and learn. I genuinely hate these devs (and I don’t hate anybody). They’re crooks.Written several reviews that don’t seem to ever show up. I wish i heeded this advise before giving them one penny. They’re slime bags.

FRAUDS!!!

I was playing a game. I was losing at first. They asked to double. I said yes. The tables turned. I was winning. I asked to double. They said I lost! That is total BS!!!!

10/31/19 - I had been updating my review for months, explaining my bad experiences with this app. I came back today to share yet another bad experience, but my previous review is gone. I didn’t delete it; clearly the developers did. Here’s a recap: This app favors Japanese players. DO NOT accept doubles from a Japanese player. If you do, they will get doubles and perfect rolls to win the game. If you do find yourself winning, the game will disconnect. I have never paid any money to these guys, which explains why I have a hard time winning against them. Great graphics but they don’t make up for the incredibly biased algorithms. I will be back to update.... And right after I posted this review, I got matched with a Japanese player. Big surprise that I lost. 11/4/19 - I was clearly winning in today’s game (I only play one game per day unless I win, which is RARE) when my opponent suddenly got doubles and perfect rolls. He offered to double, but I wisely declined. 11/7/19 - I got paired with yet another player who got doubles every other roll. 11/8/19 - Played my one daily game today. I had a slight lead against my opponent when, here’s a surprise, he got doubles and perfect rolls. 11/16/19 - I was matched with a Japanese player, who got doubles after doubles and perfect rolls. The player also had over 6 million chips..... 11/23/19 - Today’s game was more of the same. Opponent got doubles and perfect rolls to win the game. 12/3/19 - Today I was clearly winning the game. Then my Japanese opponent got doubles after doubles to win the game. 12/8/19 - Same thing today. I was winning until the opponent got perfect rolls and of course I lost. Clearly the opponents are robots. Humans do not get statistically impossible rolls like that. 12/13/19 - A miracle occurred! I played a Japanese opponent, who had over a million chips, and I won!! Coincidence, since I’ve been posting many negative reviews??? We’ll see tomorrow when I play.... 12/31/19 - Today I played opponent “kei o” who has over 19 million coins and I lost. Have played this opponent many times before and have never won. Clearly a robot. 1/6/2020 - Today played “kei o” again and lost. Then played “poembg” who has over 16 million coins and I lost. Another robot. 1/21/2020 - Just played three games and lost two. Both losses were because the opponents got multiple doubles. Robots. 1/24/2020 - In today’s game, I was ahead by 100 points. All of a sudden the opponent got perfect rolls to knock me off and I lost 5,000 coins. Clearly a robot. 1/27/2020 - The same old crap today: opponent got multiple doubles and I lost. 1/30/2020 - Today I was ahead by 80 points. I lost. Another robot. 2/3/2020 - Today’s opponent got multiple doubles and all the right moves to win. Another robot. 2/5/2020 - I am really tired of an opponent getting doubles 6 out of 8 rolls. Thank goodness I’m not stupid enough to pay money for this obviously rigged game. 2/6/2020 - Today I got “Timed Out” when I still had seconds on my timer. It seems the more bad reviews I write, the more bad luck I have in the game. Coincidence? I think not. 2/9/2020 - Today’s game was by far the most rigged game I ever played. The opponent constantly knocked me onto the bar. Each time I was able to get back in, he knocked me out again. Then he got perfect rolls to totally block me from getting in. As he cleared spaces, my rolls were low numbers so I couldn’t get in - including when he had three checkers on the “one” space, my roll was double ones. The rolls in this game today were statistically impossible. These are clearly robots playing or the developers manipulating moves. Either way, I’m done with it. Good luck to all you people who choose to continue playing Backgammon Ace. And for God’s sake DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY.

Totally rigged

Run screaming

Disconnects all the time.

Sterling7070

Disconnects all the time. Not random rolls.

Please don’t give these developers your money…

About once every 5 games, i get “disconnected”. When this happens, you lose the game—but ALSO your play money— thing is, you need to buy “play money” / chips.... with REAL money. Please, don’t do it!! when I email them- always a BS canned response. Waste of money. Only redeeming feature- decent interface. That’s it. No stars. I was just asked again to write a review. If anything... the game is more of a c rip-off now than what i wrote in the first 2 paragraphs. PLEASE don’t give these scumbags your $$, i can’t get mine back. They’re thieves.

Good game but...

Dice do not appear rigged - only online game where I can say that. I haven’t done the statistical analysis on this one yet, but 1/18 rolls for the opponent are not happening all the time so that’s a good start. It does disconnect way too often. Please move the servers to AWS to improve reliability. As others noted, it is not due to internet connectivity on the user end. Finally, it would be helpful to understand the error rate analysis a bit better. A two ply analysis seems inadequate if it is just looking two moves ahead and then using a heuristic to rate the position... Thanks!
