Just what I was looking for

I wanted an easy food journal that didn’t make me track calories as well. This app does that perfectly.

Awesome app!

I am so happy this app exists! I’ve been trying to eat healthier, and wanted a way to track my food without stressing myself out over calories and macronutrients and all the other data food-tracking apps collate. YouAte is perfect: when I snap a pic, it makes me remember what I’m actually eating, the short reflection questions help me consider why I am choosing a particular food (and if there was a better choice I could have made), and the “path” set-up is guilt-free and allows me to evaluate what’s on track for me. It’s the best way to mindfully track food without tracking calories.

Be honest with yourself about food!

I really like this app for the simplicity of tracking with photos or text, and time between meals. The on or off path helps me keep on track or encourages me to get back if I had a slight derailment. The only change I would really like them to make would be to include exercise. This is an important component for me. Currently, I don’t like if I put a text explanation of working out that it resets the countdown clock for eating.

Easy and helpful

I have used calorie counting apps/sites off and on for years. They are absolutely soul-crushing for me. Too time-consuming to use, and they inevitably lead me towards obsessive and disordered eating. I love that this app helps me keep track of what I’m eating and make healthier choices without reducing it to meticulous number tracking. I’m not hugely consistent with using it yet, but I’m improving. I feel better when I use this regularly. Thanks for providing a simple way to help me feel better and choose wisely, without making it all about numbers.

Down 17lbs and counting

MdlnJam

This app is amazing. I’m someone who has tried EVERY diet and fitness app out there and nothing has been as effective as this app. I’ve lost 17lbs since I started using the app a little over a month ago and I’m still losing. The best part is you can customize your goals for you, you aren’t forced to eat or not eat any foods. I’m still eating whatever I want, but the mindfulness questions for every meal are helping me realize what foods make me feel good. If I get off track of the path I created for myself, it isn’t the end of the world and I don’t binge on ice cream like I would with other diets. I just try to be more mindful during the next meal. Mindfulness really is key to being able to make smart choices in any situation, and I’m so grateful for this app! THANK YOU FOR YOUATE, DEVELOPERS! It really works!

Easiest food tracking app!

Forget counting and measuring! You already know what you’re supposed to eat and not supposed to eat. This is the app for you. I love that I can take a picture or write out what I’ve eaten. And, the app takes an extra step to help you understand WHY you ate... stress, cravings, boredom, hunger; while also allowing you to set your goal to be visible every time you open the app. I’m pleased after 1 week of use. I am aiming for intuitive eating not starving on diet after diet.

Easy and effective

So simple to use. And surprisingly effective. Just taking a picture is an amazing deterrent to over eating. I love the accountability.

Very nice UI and easy to use

I usually don’t review these kind of things, but I’ve been using this the past few days and the app should get more credit than it has now. I love this app and used a few apps like fitnessblender or lose it. This is the best app for you if you are a chronic snacker or you eat standing. They make it so that the most convenient way for you to log your food is take a picture of it so you have to pause and look at what you’re eating. The app also has a built-in timer that counts how long it’s been since you’ve last eaten, which encourages you to first reflect on if you’re hungry before you take a picture and munch on something you might not even be hungry for. In general, I found this the most user-friendly and there is no headache of having to log in food on MyFitnessPal or counting macros. You snap a quick picture and get on with your day. If you missed the picture then you can just write down what you ate. After (if you have time), you can reflect on your experience eating it. I also LOVE the app icon because it’s very attractive and it doesn’t scream “I’M ON A DIET.” Tl;dr: This is for you if you’re: - learning how to intuitively eat - a chronic snacker - trying to eat better (e.g. I have to think twice about grabbing that chocolate from the pantry because then I have to take a picture and admit to myself that I ate it) - willing to snap quick pictures - trying to intermittent fast - like looking back at historic statistics of your habits (they have how long on average you wait to eat, average fasting time, average meals) May not be for you if: - you want to be educated in nutritional profiles of food (e.g. granola is laden with sugar) - you eat like very few (1-3) and VERY large meals and need more help portion controlling - you have a specific goal of cutting or adding a lot of calories in a short amount of time - you go out to eat with clients a lot or maybe you never have your phone with you Hope this helps! Will update when I discover more. :)

Mindful eating

BABblingBeth1111

Really this app is about mindful eating... and that’s why I love it. Oh and because it’s a snap to use! I got it because I’d like to lose a few pounds, but more importantly, I wanted to have some accountability/food diary-type method for studying my eating trends. This app is perfect for that. No, it’s not a true weight loss, calorie-counting app. But there are tons of those, and only this one (that I know of) that is really asking the core questions of WHY you’re eating, how, how did it make you feel.
