Hate the update!

My eyes are burning. It’s so aesthetically unpleasant and much more hard to read and navigate. Please go back to the previous version!


New update is horrible

Why why why??? You ruined a perfectly good app! It is so difficult now to see my tree. There is no contrast, the pictures are tiny, the names don’t look right. Cannot follow the lines. Terrible graphics! No new useful features. What could have been really helpful would be to view the relationship in the tree without having to click on each profile. It would be amazingly helpful to have a colored border around each person in the tree with the ability to customize a color for each individual. This way you could highlight relatives in your direct line, another color for different relationships or to highlight interesting matches or ones you want to go back and research more. So sad about this new update...I have put so much time and effort into my tree and this new look is not going to work for me. So visually cumbersome! I need a larger photo and have put a lot of effort into using photos for quick identification and sizing them just so. Too much wasted space now that is not even being used to display additional information. I’m not sure what the thinking was behind this colossal failure. I want the old app back!!!

No!! No!! No!! What on earth have you done? This is not a good update at all! I spend a lot of money every year on this app and the change is upsetting. I can’t spend more than a few minutes on this without getting a splitting headache from looking at a stark white screen. What happened to the colorful backgrounds with the option to change it up? I use an iPad for this app and the pictures in my tree are minuscule at best. Please change it back. This is not an improvement at all.☹️

This last update is HORRIBLE! To have my tree with the dark background like I used to have, I now have to either put up with the light background which is hard on my eyes, or switch my iPad setting to the dark background. The programmer that made that arbitrary decision is a dimwit! Also, when viewing my DNA matches, the Back button has been removed when viewing another’s tree. Another lousy programming decision.

Your AP updates are horrible

Have used the AP since it first came out. Pretty user friendly, but does crash from time to time. However the latest update changed the format to a white background and not nearly as easy on the eyes to read! Ruined it! It also says we now have the ability to choose between light or dark mode but no where to change it. I contacted tech support and they said that option is not available on the AP. What horrible communication.

I hate the white background which makes my tree hard to view. Also the search feature have been limited. How do I change the background color?

You cannot change the background color from white unless you set your entire device on dark mode always on in settings. Dark mode is too dark and all white is impossible. You used to be able to change the background color in your tree by accessing Ancestry in the browser and it would sync with the app. It no longer does this. This has pretty much ruined research for me because white is impossible to work with. Sometimes one change like tjis can ruin everything and this one certainly did.

Please fix the awful appearance Ancestry! The all white background is not pleasant and strains the eyes of anyone who uses the app for any length of time. The look with the profile pictures is bad. The important stuff is smaller, harder to see and engulfed in a sea of white. You need to hire someone who has design experience. Functionality is worse although I like the search function in the sources that goes to the website. One good thing. It was a pain to have to manually go to the website, wait for it to open and do a search. Hints are usually ok but a deeper search turns up better results. I still don’t like the exclusion of a “FACTS” column in the iPhone app. It is included on the website tree and is still on my old android that I still occasionally use. The background and style is still as it was before on the website and android, the darker background and better visual appearance. Why should the iPhone user have a worse version? I am a seriously disgruntled customer.
